I've got a 2017 12.9" iPad Pro on order, but I am curious - how common is it to find apps not optimized for a 12.9" screen?

I'm just curious to know how often I should expect apps (especially games) to be configured to display well in the larger format vs. not. This won't change my order - just curious since it's been awhile since the 1st gen 12.9" models came out.

Thank you!

So far none of my apps are unoptimsied although Im only using Hidden Folks, Swift Playgrounds, and Netflix. Wait Reddit also and its not really optimized as its current implementation of SplitView support is agregious only supporting the 75/25 split, which is never what I need, how about 50/50 huh. Other then that most apps Ive seen look to support the 12.9 just fine, in Safari I haven't ran into any weird websites either.

Been a 12.9 user since the first one. iPad apps even if not optimized are not so bad but noticeable especially when you bring the keyboard up. One of the worst is Facebook still not optimized, lazy developers are the worst. iPhone only apps are horrible on the 12.9.

I didn't even know that some apps only support certain ratios. Huh.

It's not so much that the app can shut off certain ratios, but that they turned on the flag that tells the OS it supports split view / dynamic layout without actually fully supporting dynamic layout in the app itself.

Reddit and Dark Sky both do this, and usually you get garbage if you make their app too small in split view. Clipped controls and views usually.

It would be a significant incentive for app updates if Apple would show in the App Store compatibility for Split View (50/50, 80/20) and iPad Pro optimization

Pardon my skepticism but... or.. scare away prospective consumers who see many apps are not optimized. I wish they would take your suggestion though. I just don’t think they will.
