I purchased Doom 3 from Mac App Store, but on another Mac i no longer have...

Now on this current Mac I get asked to sign in using the Apple ID... anyway i can prevent the initial sign in to verify, since i purchased with the same Apple ID... its just not on the same machine..

Or will i just have to re-download and back *it* up if i don't want to see this?

You need to sign in to check if you bought it before, to check for a valid purchase. Even if you back it up, it will still want to check validity on every new Mac, this is by design.

just to be clear its the purchase, or the fact i didn't download it on this Mac that's the issue? i wanna know before i start downloading weather it would make any difference.

As long as you purchased/downloaded it on your apple account, it doesn't matter what machine you did it on... You'll need to sign in with that same apple id on the new machine, but yes, you'll be able to download it. The purchases are tied to the ID, not the computer.

From my (limited) understanding, the app you bought is useable on as many as five Mac devices. You may need to authorize the computer, but otherwise it is easy peasy.

i found the issue...

I backedup up the installer, and i was copying across that onto my mac... thus the "verify" dialog at open of the app.

Solution was to just re-download it on this mac..
