I purchased an app from the App Store last week but I decided to get a refund as the app wasn't to my expectations and in the EU customers are allowed 14 days to get a refund. Anyway I received the refund no problem. This is the first time I have got a refund on apps in the 10 years I have been buying apps. Anyway, just today I purchased another app and when I pressed the "buy" button I get presented with the following message...

"Confirmation - I acknowledge that if I download this app within fourteen days of tapping 'Buy', I will no longer be eligible to cancel this purchase."

What the hell is Apple playing at. I thought customers only got this message if they abused the refund system by applying for refunds all the time? I have only applied for a refund once in the 10 years of purchasing an app and I get this. F U Apple!

Has anyone else had this message even though they have only got a refund once?

I've requested about 3 total refunds with Apple. Have never been warned. The most recent was a $20 IAP in July/August. however I've had my account for over 10-12 years and I'm US/NA. So those thing could be taken into consideration.

But perhaps it was the reason you gave that flagged that warning. The reasonings I had given, which were true, were because the apps were buggy and broken. If you just said you changed your mind then perhaps they flagged you.

Thing is all I did was selected cancel purchase on that app that I purchased last week and that's all I did and instantly I got the money refunded into my account. There was no questions asked so Apple don't know the reason why I wanted a refund. What Apple are doing are against EU regulations and illegal. I'd understand Apple's point in that message if I was just purchasing apps and getting refunds all the time but that isn't the case with me. I have only ever got a refund once in the 10 years of being a customer. :(

What exactly is illegal? You might want to revisit updated laws on digital downloads for the EU. It is no longer required to provide a 14 days grace period for returns on digital content.

In this case iTunes is allowing you to return the product... as long as you haven't downloaded it... which is what the current EU law dictates.

Where do you get your information from? The law on digital downloads is still the same in the EU.

The European Commission. I'm also curious where you receive yours.

Show me a genuine link and I will maybe believe you but I have googled and found nothing about the EU changing the law on refunds on digital refunds. So far the 14 day refund right is still law in the EU.
