Hopefully someone can help me so I can avoid doing a complete reset of my Apple TV.

Basically I used to have DirecTV and used my login for the DisneyNow app. I have since cancelled DirecTV and want to login with my new DirecTV Now account instead. However the DisneyNow app will NOT let me sign out of the original DirecTV account. I have selected to remove TV provider and done so through the AppleTV settings. I have left TV Provider empty/unused, deleted the DisneyNow app entirely, reinstalled the app, and once it opens it still shows DirecTV as the provider.

Clearly the App is storing data somewhere that remains even after I delete it. Is there anyway to get it to remove all the information so I can start fresh? I don’t want to reset the entire AppleTV as I would rather avoid having to install and reconfigure everything else just because of this one app.

Try going to: Settings > Apps and then scroll down to the App Settings section. See if there is a listing in there for Disney and click on it. It should then give you the option to 'Never' allow the app to access your TV provider.

I don't have Disney installed on mine, but I did have to turn this off for HBO GO in the same settings because I use the free access that I get from my AT&T unlimited cell plan rather than from my TV provider.

Thanks. I had hope that this would work but still no luck. I’m going to try a few more iterations of this and if I still can’t get it then I’ll be doing a full reset. Ugh.

I'm not sure if this will work, but have you tried power cycling the device? Pull the plug for a few seconds, then plug it back in.

Just a follow up to anyone who may find this searching for a similar solution. I did end up resetting the Apple TV as no other steps could resolve the issue.

However, I did find that resetting the Apple TV was made much quicker by setting up Home Screen sharing first. I only have the one AppleTV, but by doing this first it saved my settings in the cloud and after resetting and signing back into iCloud all the apps reinstalled in the same place. I did of course still have to sign into each app but at least the process of installing all the apps again was bypassed.
