App so I can write to NTFS external HD?

Hi,

Simply looking for an application, preferably free, that will allow me to write to my NTFS external HD. I had this external as FAT32 before which was not problematic until I started downloading 720 and 1080 .mkv movies that were larger than 4gb. So I reformatted to NTFS which'll accept files larger than 4gb but realized that OSX don't be got da ability to write to NTFS.

There are many applications that let you write to NTFS File Systems, A free example is NTFS 3G with Macfuse, or paragon NTFS as a paid example.

I don't understand how NTFS 3G with Macfuse works, it seems as if there are a lot of different download options. Could you perhaps walk me through this?

• Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
• No individual file larger than 4GB.

NTFS

• Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
• Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
• To Read/Write NTFS from Leopard: Install MacFUSE and NTFS-3G. You can install both with NTFS-3G for Mac OS X.
• To Read/Write NTFS from Snow Leopard: Guide: Enable native NTFS Read/Write in Snow Leopard
• (Be aware that some are of the opinion that enabling native NTFS in SL is unstable/unreliable, and favor the MacFuse/NTFS-3G method for Snow Leopard)

HFS

• Read/Write HFS from native Mac OS X
• To Read/Write HFS from Windows, Install MacDrive
• To Read HFS (but not Write) from Windows, Install HFSExplorer

Oh, I thought Windows was unable to read/write HFS no questions asked. I think I'm just going to format the external hard drive to be HFS and use MacDrive which I already own.

Paragon NTFS is great for what u are looking for. I know its not free and thats what you were looking for, but it totally worth the cost. works great!

I'll give the 10 day trial a shot before figuring out this HFS stuff... Looks like a good program so far actually.
