Broken in what way?
I am not able to log into the App Store on my 2012 13" MacBook Pro running OS Mojave. This is problematic because I have purchased Logic Pro 10.5.1 that I use quite a lot. I had to do a clean reinstall of Mojave today, and do not have a backup of the Logic Pro app.

Luckily App Store is working today. I have just downloaded my Logic Pro 10.5.1, so I can continue to work on my home studio during Christmas. All is well!!

whew!
just timemeachine or keep a real copy of Logic Pro on hand, since  is getting stingy and stubborn!
im glad everything worked out for you.
Thank you! I have already saved the Logic app on multiple HDs,it will never be a problem again🙏🏼

I can still log in to the App Store (and iCloud) on iOS 9.x (iPod touch 5) and iOS 10.x (iPhone 5c) which received updates until 2016 and 2017 so macOS 10.14 Mojave with updates until 2021 should still work.

Bumping this thread as I realized I was signed out of the App Store on my MacBookPro9,2, and repeatedly attempted to sign back in without success. The sign in process appears to accept my password and looks like it works, but the UI never changes from "Sign In" to my Apple ID.

I’ve tried extensive local troubleshooting with no change:
  • Cleared App Store caches, containers, and preferences
  • Multiple reboots
  • PRAM/NVRAM resets
  • Safe Boot
  • Disabled SIP
  • Signed out of iCloud completely
  • Attempted App Store sign-in without iCloud
  • Signed back into iCloud
  • Tried different networks including iPhone hotspot (ruling out DNS)
  • Ensured "Set date and time automatically" is set and confirmed time is accurate
To rule out a local issue, I tested on two other Mojave installations in my lineup: MacPro3,1 and iMac13,2. Both were initially logged into the App Store on boot. I checked for updates and was asked to sign in to the Apple ID again. My password was accepted, but then I saw an error of "data was unexpected" or similar. I then tried signing out (of the App Store) and could not sign back in again on these two machines either.

Console logs repeatedly show a server-side failure during authentication:
Code:
Sign in failed with error code: 500, description: <private>

Based on consistent behaviour across three known-good Mojave systems and repeated HTTP 500 responses during login, this looks like a server-side breakage rather than a local system issue.

One additional point: my Apple ID is very old (MobileMe-era), and I wonder if anyone with a newer Apple ID (post-2018, mandatory 2FA era) can confirm whether App Store sign-in still works on Mojave. It might help determine whether this is a blanket Mojave deprecation or an account-policy issue.

Update: App Store sign in is now working again.

The issue appears to have resolved itself on my affected Mojave systems.

I was able to reproduce sign-in failure across three separate known-good 10.14.6 installs (MacBookPro9,2, iMac13,2, MacPro3,1) as above. The problem then cleared at different times on each machine without any further local changes over the past 24 hours.

As part of troubleshooting I did update an expired Apple WWDR certificate ("AppleWWDRCAG3.cer" downloaded from Apple PKI) on two machines, as the bundled certificate expired in 2023. However, the issue also resolved on a third machine where this was not done, so it does not appear the outdated System certificate was the root cause.

Given the identical behaviour across systems and the fact it resolved on its own, this looks like a temporary Apple-side authentication issue affecting Mojave App Store clients rather than any kind of local issue.

I'd be interested in hearing anyone else's experiences.

I have two Mojave installs, and I do recall some problems a while back. For the last couple of months, it's been working flawlessly; I haven't updated any certificates or done anything special. I suppose they were tweaking their store. This 9.2-15 inch MacBook Pro I'm writing from is still using Mojave, even though Apple updated it to Catalina. I use it sporadically; I close the lid, and the battery lasts 8 or 9 days (it's still the original SMP battery from Taiwan). With Catalina, the battery drains much faster.
