Hi,

I am running macbook air, sierra.

My app store says there are 4 updates pending. Everytime I try to open it it says:

'App store quit unexpectedly. Click reopen to open the application again'

I have tried uninstalling but it won't let me. When I launch the computer in safe mode it also happens.

Please help

Have you got your mac online ? Mac App Store won't run without being online.
You also need to have enough ram free to run the MAS, so quit a few other big apps like chrome or word or adobe CC, etc.
Then just run MAS and go to the updates tab on the top right, and click on the update all button.
While you are there in the MAS, get memory clean 2 by FIPLAB and use it to clear up ram when you use too much.

Otherwise, if you still have problems getting the updates, you may need to be logged into the AppleID used by those apps.

Yes, it's going online no problem. Also, RAM shouldn't be an issue, this laptop is a month old and has practically nothing on it.

I can't run MAS as it never starts, giving me a box saying it has quit unexpectedly before the store opens. (MAS = mac apple store?)

Please do not take any notice of reinstalling your whole OS. That isn't a smart solution, that is a dumb solution. Anyone can say reinstall the whole OS.

I agree that reinstalling the OS is probably overkill. On the other hand, Apple is smart about this and you can safely reinstall macOS and it will not disturb any of your data.

Alright, so does anyone else here have a more difficult option for a newbie to fix the app store bug ? Could you please post it smugly below.
I already posted a link above. It involves deleting directories, very easy.

Hi Pete, unfortunately that link did not work. I simply had the same issue after doing it. Thanks for the suggestion though
