I recall on the keynote one of the presenters saying that now when you download free apps you don't need to put your password in once you've update to iOS 6. Well it's still asking me for a password when downloading free apps!

I've had apps updates nearly everyday since 6.0 release and have never had to input my password.

They're still needed for free downloads. It's updates where you no longer need to enter the password.

    Here's what happens:

Updating apps - no login needed
Downloading previously downloaded/purchased apps - no login needed
Downloading a new paid/free app - login needed
