Have you tried restarting the phone to see if that would get it resolved? Alternatively have you tried reloading the App Store by tapping one of the sections at the bottom (like the Updates section) 10 times?

Do you perhaps have an app that was installed via a different Apple ID?

For instance, my wife has an app on her iPhone that was installed under my Apple ID. She's been logged in under her Apple ID since shortly after I installed the app.

She'll get an update badge whenever that app under my Apple ID has an update, but she can't see the app in her purchase list, nor can she update the app when logged in under her Apple ID. If we go to the app in question under her Apple ID it shows up as not being installed - because it was not installed under her Apple ID.

I have restarted it more than 5x and sections at the bottom are more apps that can only be open just like the top

The phone is brand-new and there was only one apple id that was used but i will try to log in and out if that works

By section at the bottom I mean the bottom of the App Store that has different tabs/buttons, like "Featured", "Top Charts", "Explore", "Search", and "Updates"--if you tap any one of them 10 times that reloads the store essentially.

You might also have a stuck update somewhere which doesn't even really show up in the "Updates" section. You might want to look at your apps, even in folders, to see if any one of them might be stuck in loading or waiting state (alternatively you can look in the mange storage section in the Settings up where all your apps are listed to see if you have any app there that appears to be incomplete (usually it will show up with a generic gray icon instead of its actual icon) and delete it from there (and then reinstall it again perhaps).

Tried it and it didn't work out. I guess i can stop by at the local apple store see if i can get some help on it

If you go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores then toggle off Updates and back on again it should clear it. I have the same problem and it works for a while. Not permanently though.

I had the exact same issue pop up on my iPad Pro today. I have the badge showing a "1" on the home screen and within the App Store app. I had an app update today but it's been updated but the badge persists.

Let me know if you were able to get rid off it some how some way. It annoying to see it there. It is a bog sore eye

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. It showed all the apps in the column read (open), but the last app updated flashed update for a second and went back to open. The rest of the recently updated apps didn't show that flash to update. So it had to be that first app that when clicked on it flashed (update) for a second and the rest of the apps didn't do that. I deleted that app then reinstalled it and everything was fine and the notification in the dock went away. You just have to watch for that app that was flashing update for a second and goes back to (open). That will be the culprit.
