App store phone number

Hello,

I'm currently using the U.S app store and have credit on my account (which makes it impossible to switch regions), unfortunately i'm not in the U.S and don't have an address/phone number.

So I just put a random address and phone number.
I really don't mind faking my address, but i'm curious how dangerous is it to put a random phone number?
What is it exactly used for?
What info is sent or requested when I purchase an app, or any other time?
