I have a brand new iPod 7 Touch that's updated to the latest iOS. It doesn't have a credit card on file (it's for my son). I purchased a physical $25 Apple Gift Card and it redeemed with no problems. The iPod now shows a balance of $25 on it. I'm trying to install the Minecraft game for him but when I try to purchase it from the App Store, it says "Verification Required: Before you can make purchases, you must tap Continue to sign in, then verify your payment info." This opens up the Payment & Shipping screen and shows that the Apple Account has a $25 balance. The other things showing are "Add Payment Method" and "Add Shipping Address" and also "Edit" at the top but it's inactive. So, I close that and try again but it does the same thing. I don't want to put a credit card on file for my minor son, I'd like to use the gift cards only. There is no way to make a purchase, even with a Apple Gift Card, from the App Store without a credit card on file?

I don't know if this is still true (and can't test it), but it used to be that you had to enter a credit card and save it before you could change it and select None as an option.

I ended up adding my card and buying the game then I deleted my card after the purchase. It did deduct the funds from the Apple account balance and did not charge my card. I hope that I don't have to do this with every purchase but if so, in the future if I have to add my card again then I will look for the "None" option.
