I am wondering if anyone can help me out. Recently I have confiscated my stepdaughters Mac and am giving it to my wife for personal reasons. I am in the process of setting up her account. Now when She logs in there are various apps that need to be updated, but when I try to update them it is prompting me for my stepdaughters password. Is there anyway I can change this to my Wifes apple ID?

You will need to be logged in to the App Store with whichever AppleID bought the apps that need updating.

That is the problem. This Mac Book is no longer my step daughters, but my wife's now.

I understand, but that is how it works. Your wife will need to login to the app store with the step-daughter's ID to get updates. Otherwise, you will need to repurchase the apps.
