After having read a review on about a new app called 'ReachMyFile' in which they go so far as to say,

I obviously then decided to check out the app...upon doing so, I noticed that there was just a single user review/rating of this new app, from a user who had rated the app with 4 stars, but strangely the app was listed as only being with 2.5 stars??? See the screenshot below:

Does this make any sense to anyone? I personally find the app store ratings badly implemented because apps that are among the best ones available are listed with 2 or 3 stars, when they should be 4+...

When I saw this discrepency with the ReachMyFile app rating, I had to at least ask...Is there a method to the madness?

Another victim of the ratings count probably when the app has been deleted, or the dev gave out some promo codes and the users just randomly rated(?) the app. Those are the ones I can think of.

I am not sure if all international stores are the same, but usually you can give a rating without a review, e.g. by deleting the app from your Ipod/Iphone.

yeah, kind of confusing ... there is a disconnect in the diplayed ratings and reviews ... so just because a user wirtes a review and leaves it 4 stars, doesn't mean its a 4 star app because other users are rating it but not leaving a written review.

Argh - hope that made sense :)

So people who don't post a review can rate apps as well?

Yes when you delete it from you Iphone/Touch it gives the options to rate it.
