Thank God. My spelling is terrible and it's amazing some of the things I've accidentally searched for. Spell check doesn't catch everything.

They should also put at the top of the list some good spelling and grammar apps.

I have yet to figure out why people are relentlessly questioning (or even complaining at times) about what Macrumors reports on.

Instead of publicly questioning the choices of the editorial staff, be grateful that they've permitted you to use their fantastic website for several years - absolutely free.

WHOA! Let's not get carried away, as much as I agree that is great to have Macrumors around don't forget that they profit from the readers so I would think of it more as a symbiotic relationship than anything else.

I personally like reading this little tidbits, when I find content unappealing I just skip it and don't complain but the writers of the content have to care what the readers think. If too many readers think the content offered is of no value they will get their Apple info fix elsewhere.

There are plenty of other options: 9to5mac, Apple Insider, The Verge, Mashable, etc. even inside the Flipboard app there's a section solely dedicated to Apple news; Macrumors is part of it.

I, like many others here, prefer Macrumors of course; I stumble upon the site's extremely helpful buying guide many years ago which saved me from buying my first Mac which was about to become replaced by a new model and have been visiting since.

I think they have bigger App Store search issues to worry about.

Two questions.
Why is this front page news and why was this never implemented before?

It's great news that a problem many have faced has been addressed, and it hasn't been fixed earlier because it had a lower priority than killing significant bugs in iOS7.

hilarious.

you don't think MacRumors should be thanking us for helping them make so much revenue off their adds?

This should have been an iOS blog story. Pretty lame for front page. And developing a better site > keeping users happy > more users visiting > more money for them.

And one snarky comment doesn't really classify as relentlessly questioning.

Appreciation is a higher vibration than gratitude, but either one will do in this scenario.

This is a big deal. For some apps the only way to get noticed (show up in results) was to misspell your keywords. I'm guessing you still have the top result for exact word over a corrected word but you never know with the AppStore...

As long as non retina 3.5inch screen results show up over actual up to date ios7 apps it's crazy.

Not all websites are created for the sole purpose of making money. It may also be a hobby, a costly one for a website of this size. Revenue is what's keeping a website like this one alive, but that doesn't mean that there's a money-targeting business behind it. You take all this work for granted, as if money were the whole story. Not an applaudable attitude, to be honest.

Besides, if you had read the report thoroughly, you would have noticed that it applies to both Mac and iOS alike.

Its really the sort of feature that should have been built into the App Store since day 1 don't you think?

I did read the whole report and I knew that. Further, I'm highly appreciative of what MacRumors does, I've been a fan of the site since I was basically a kid.

And yes, I appreciate. I just find it ridiculous for someone's criticism to be invalidated in such a way. People are allowed to have opinions, and I'd imagine a site like MacRumors wants to keep it's readers happy, as that's what they've set out to do from the beginning.

It's sad to see how on these forums people squash each other left and right for having a difference of opinions. In my book it's not classy to sit on a high horse and patronize someone for speaking their mind.

I'm a big fan of the site, it aggregates information in a great way, and has fueled my fandom of what I think is one of the most respectable, iconic companies in existence today. That said, it's readers, and forum members, have a nasty tendency towards entitlement.

MacRumors is really wonderful, and that hard work that goes into it is commendable, but I'm not about to start kissing feet and say they can do no wrong.

Anyways this is overkill. It's an article about a change in the way the app store searched.

lol...

cool..

And so it should compensate... I like the number of mistakes laid out in table-form.

I am also one of those people that make mistakes... :) no-body's perfect. Even in the App Store.

I never really thought of this, i just reckoned Apple's search was always bad since iOS7 came along.

I guess I was wrong.

That's a non-issue.

Grown up folks running around screaming, they could be presented porn upon request is funny though.
And anyone giving me the "but the kids" card is successful in ignoring that you could lock such apps?
And maybe even require a code for them to open or a folder containing them to be accessed, so even if you let your little nephew play, he won't open up you latest boobie app.
At the same time though, I hope you're locking Safari in parental controls as well...

Yes, bans over giving people control and choice. Good thinking.

And before I'm being called out for telling Apple what to do with THEIR store, where THEY make the rules, well, yes its their and they make the rules, but I as customer am free to criticize them for their decisions. They can take it or let it be. Their choice as well.

And the other thing I'll be told to do is probably to get an Android, well... Go ahead and make that suggestion, next week we'll talk about how I don't like something else in Android world and I'll be told to go to Windows Phone, which... come on. Then back to iPhone?
See, there is no perfect products, but all of them have and are getting better over time and that's certainly not due to people shutting up.
And if you think Apple knows everything by themselves and that they really don't listen to people, well then... wow. Delusional much?

On a final note though: they are an American company and this "Oooh! It's nude, it's got boobies, it's porn!!!" flies well over there in the good old "land of the free".
Now I'm Eurotrash of course, granted, so my take on this obviously doesn't matter, but crickey... You're so open about violence, guns, action movies, games, etc, but when it comes to boobs you lose your ****?
I know video games and movies don't influence kids in the way many fear, but why try so excessively to hide porn from anyone and anybody?
Oh and mind you: I'm German, not British. The good old chaps over there just found a way to block porn online.

I'm telling you, I'm bedazzled at how my mom and people at the time when I grew up always talked about the US being such a free nation and how important being free is, now a bunch of years later people happily give up their liberties left and right. (no political pun intended)

Sorry for making such a long post, guess I needed a rant on this and you triggered me.
Nothing personal, dannyyankou.
The only thing that "was meant for you" was the first line. heh

I think you completely missed the point. What I was saying is that a 5 year old would accidentally come across the name of a porn site in the suggestions in the AppStore, and they would type that into safari. I'm not talking about downloading or opening any apps.
