    Hi everyone,

I need an external program that restricts the access to my computer to certain times of the day just like Parental Controls do, but under an admin account. I'll explain this:

I'm using an internet filter software to schedule the access to Internet to certain times of the day and to filter the adult content and ads.

In addittion to this, I would like to restrict the access to my computer (not just to the internet) from a certain time of the night (to prevent myself from staying up late working or watching films so that I can go to bed early).

I tried to set a user account using Parental Controls, which has this exact great feature, but even though I wasn´t filtering content using PC (I already used an external app) I wasn´t able to access secure websites (e.g. Gmail) so I am back to my admin account.

Is there any program that limits the access to a computer to certain times of the day under an admin account? Ideally, it should lock the screen during the specified time intervals and require a password to unlock.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

There is an app like this which denies you access to selected apps for however long as you schedule it. I can't remember what it's called right now but will try to find out, because I kind of need it myself :D

Any app you can install, you can uninstall. Any restriction you can apply, you can remove. Any technical solution you can install, you can circumvent. Technology is a poor substitute for self-discipline.

No such app that I'm aware of. My suggestion is to work no your self control to prevent excessive usage.

Developing this will have other benefits outside of computer usage, is it a good habit to enhance :)

I've used in the past an app called Time Out Free (App Store). While it's easy to get past when you want and doesn't substitute for self-control, it was a handy reminder. I don't recall all of the settings and whether it could give you the warnings at certain times of day, but it does come up and cover the whole screen and requires you dismiss it (I think with a password).
