    Hey all,

I'm looking for an app which speaks the time at regular, customizable intervals (5 mins, 10 mins,...). This should also work when the app is running in the background and it needs to be compatible with iOS 11.

From what I understand this is not possible as Apple restrict the amount of notifications an app can deliver. There are some good apps that speak the time on the hour and half hour I can recommend (waiting for some to update to 64bit).

Interesting, does this only apply in case of notifications which are sent at a regular interval? Messengers such as WhatsApp sure can send more then one notification per 5 mins or even 1 min. I did have an app which announces the time regularly a while ago, but it is no longer updated and I got a warning from iOS when opening it. Probably due to the amount of notifications, but it did work.

I did get an email from a developer years ago explaining the reasons, but I am not able to find it. I remember the reasoning being confirmed by another developer though. But as you say the limit must only apply to scheduled reminders.

I too had some great ones. I am testing a beta of a Spoken Time app at the moment. It’s quite good, but only hourly or half hourly notifications. There was a great app that you could customise the words on each notification but it had to be open in the background and I don’t think it’s got 64bit support.

Running it in the background wouldn't be a problem,.since I only need the announcements on special occasions. As long as it speaks the time and not too much extra stuff, it's fine with me. Can you recommend such an app, compatible with iOS 11, which speaks the time every half hour? Or maybe let me know when the beta you've mentioned is released to the app store? I then could email the developer if the notification contraints still apply.

The one I have been testing is Voice Time. It is quite customisable - Speech on/off, Volume, tone on/off and the hours between when the announcements occur and selecting hourly or half hourly. You can download the current version, as I believe the version I am testing is an update.

You can also set a timer.

There was a great app - Time Tone, but that is not compatible with iOS 11 and Time Now which I can't find on the App Store.
