Hello all,

I'm using an external LG Ultrawide monitor with a 16" MacBook Pro and am looking for an app that will not only switch the screen resolution, but also switch the aspect ratio from 21:9 to 16:9 for when I do screen captures etc.

Parallels Toolbox has one that works really well but I'd prefer not to pay a $30/ year sub (CDN) for it. I'd rather pay a one time fee.

Anyone have a lead on an alternative?

Thanks very much.

There’s also SwitchResX from www.madrau.com
I've used this in the past and liked it a lot. Pretty sure it supports some "nonstandard" resolutions which might fit the bill for changing aspect ratios. I used it on my old iMac 5K to make smooth screen recordings off Keynote presentations at 1080p. At full 5K resolution, frames were getting dropped all over the place so I had to bump the resolution down to make it work smoothly. SwitchResX worked nicely for this since it was a nonstandard resolution I couldn't access in system preferences.
