My roommate's iphone 3g stopped responding to his iphone jack into his car stereo, then i realized it's more widespread. it doesn't respond to anything.. pc,mac, wall charger, different usb cables... anything. when i turn it on i get a screen with a red battery in need of charge and then it turns off after maybe 3 seconds.

the phone is well out of warranty. he has a backup blackberry but we would liek to get his pictures and stuff off his iphone. any ideas on how i can breathe life into this phone?
thanks. i'm new here 🙂

Have you tried a can of compressed air? If you do, make sure the can does not squirt the liquid so hold it upright.

I usually have a lot of lint in mine as I carry it naked in my pocket.

Also, if you're down to the red line on the battery, it may take up to 10 minutes before responding to any stimulus.
