well guys i just had my first HD failure....in 2 3/4 years of owning my macbook...

it was painful but thx to applecare

just want to say its really worth it...

i got a new battery...and new HD....within an hour at my apple store...

it was worth it...

my old HD was 60gig....they didnt have those anymore

so they gave me 75gig....which was nice at no charge...

they didnt upgrade me to leopard...but gave me only tiger....which leopard i can get on my own anyways...

just thought i'd share w/ everyone...

Sweet. I've heard mostly good things about Apple Care. I once spoke with a rep over the phone concerning my old MBA and he was genuinely kind and chill.

im not advertising it or anything

just sharing some of my experiences with others here about it

im quite happy with my new battery....that would last another1-2 years...and new hard drive....

despite all old data is lost...but heh...

I lost alot of data, pictures etc that was on the HD of my computer, so I learned to save anything I will want later to an external HD.

Lazy Wednesday

just thought i'd share w/ everyone...

For some reason, a poem came to mind.

in 2 3/4 years of owning my macbook
i just had my first HD fail
All my data was lost
But there is applecare

[They gave me] a new battery...
and a brand new HD...
within an hour at my apple store...
[I was happy as could be]

my old HD was 60gig....
they didnt have those anymore
so they gave me 75gig
And I didn't have to spend more

they didnt upgrade me to leopard
but gave me only tiger
which leopard i can get on my own anyways...
[Because Apple store's price is higher].

It's a slow Wednesday.

:stands up and applauds:

pretty much everything

is there something u had in mind?

Not everything. Any accidental damage (water damage, cracked screens, dents, etc) are not covered by Applecare. It has to be damage not caused by the user that can be attributed to a manufacturing defect. For example, if the hard drive failed then it would be replaced. However, if a technician opens up the computer and a water sensor inside has been triggered, then they can get out of the repair by saying that it was caused by water damage. In that case, you wouldn't be covered and would have to pay for the repair instead of get it for free.

Just a good experience in general with Apple for me. This is my third replacement (debris under my two previous MacBook screens) and now I'm sending this on for a repair on my battery door. I told the representative that I didn't have an external HDD to back up to. He put me on hold for a minute and when he got back, he offered me a free 500GB Seagate drive. I was shocked! No company has ever done this for me, simply because of my bad luck. I was kind of ticked that I bought a Mac, but now Im glad that they care about me enough to, essentially, give a $100 for my bad luck.

Don't want to ruin the mood, but how is this special? You had your computer under warranty, some parts broke down and they replaced them. Every other hardware company would do the same thing, that's what warranty is all about.

It's like saying you made a reservation and when you arrived at the restaurant the table was all ready for you. Of course it was, that's the point :D.

That's very true. I know I am just happy with Apple when I don't have to wait 10-20 minutes even though I have an appointment with the Genius Bar. Next thread: "Wow, the Genius was ready for me at my actual appointment time! Thanks Apple!"
