So thinking I should get a fast charger for my iPhone, iPad Pro so can have a quick boost if needed. I'm in UK.

So I know you have to get Apple's own USB-C to lightning cable for £19, and Apple's 30W charger is £49 but is there alternatives to the charger, in UK?

Keen to hear from anyone who has got some and tried and found ok, rather than "should work".

Or should I pay the expensive £68 for the chargers from Apple?

Thanks

Check out 30W USB-C chargers on Aliexpress. They go for $15-20 each. But you must use Original Apple USB-C to Lightning cable so that PD is negotiated correctly.

Does anybody know what the fastest charge the new iPads will take.

No sense buying a 100 W version if 18 W is the max it will take

When I was purchasing mine, it shows the 30w charger as an accessory to buy. I bought one several weeks ago for my 2015 iPP, it works great.

Yes I saw that, but since they’re not selling the 18W one that comes with it, that’s the smallest one they sell usb c wise. They also show bigger sizes as a choice. I’m just wondering, what’s the max the iPad will take.

Now the new IPP come with a 18W wonder if that's a fast charger capable or would you still have to go to 30W minimum for the fast charge?

As imagine the 18W will be significantly smaller than the 30W and if so would rather have smaller physical size and will wait until sold seperate then, and be cheaper than the 30W imagine.

That’s where I was going. Somewhere soon we should be able to find out what is the max the iPad will accept.

It's not the Max I'm bothered about as I presume the iPad just takes what it needs and regulates it, so for example the 60W one will work.

What I want is the minimum one, so will be smallest one, but must fast charge it still so hoping the 18W one will.

Well maybe max is the wrong word. I think I’m saying the same thing, I want the iPad to fast charge, but don’t want to carry around a big brick that has excess capacity that I’m not using.

See wondering if this would work, have to buy the Apple USB-C to lightning cable, but it's 1/4 of the price of the Apple 30W charger.

Anker Fast Charger, USB Charger 18W USB Wall Charger PowerPort+ 1 for Galaxy S8/S7/S6/Edge/Plus, Note 4/5, LG G4, Sony Xperia XZ, Nexus 6, iPhone and More[Black] https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017VXARME/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bJz2BbVDH3CFB

This is the one I’m thinking of. I have one for laptop now and it’s about the right size. I don’t know if it’s available with UK plugs though and it is a bit more.

It has a UK plug on? It's from Amazon UK. You have this charger already? What plug does it have on then? Confused sorry. If you do, why not buy the Apple USB-C cable that your going to need no matter what anyway and test?

Looking here from Apple spec though says minimum 29W, so not sure

Sorry I have the one in the link I just added to previous post
Yea they say 29W minimum but then they give you an 18W charger.

Ah ok sorry missed link, that looks huge tbh. Just looked into Anker one more and says not compatible with iPad Pro, and doesn't mention USB-PD so mustn't be.

Also in the Apple link I posted, it does say "A comparable third-party USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD)" but doesn't specify what wattage needs to be....

Wonder if this would work? Google pixel charger 18W, still need the Apple cable but maybe smaller and is cheaper? Also decent article on different fast chargers.

So do we need them? This is a quote from the article "The USB-C chargers get you just over 50 percent in half an hour, and fully charge the phone in just under two hours. The 12W Apple adapter is only about 20 minutes behind."

Lightning are you charging a phone or new iPad?
All sorts, iPhones and the old iPad Pro's. The new iPad Pro will come with a USB-C to USB-C.

I'm wanting to charge all devices so would still need the Apple USB-C to lightning cable anyway

Oh OK, then you would need the lightning and a USB c to C cable also. But you would need a charger like the first one you linked or the one I linked, with a USB 3 plug and a C plug in.

Well Apple released the 18W USB-C power delivery seperate in UK, £29 but the size and folding pins made it worth it for me.

Wish I hadn't bought the ESR one now as Apple is much better size, and hoping it's ok for other USB-C charging stuff as well. Now use it with my 10.5 iPad.
