Hi there
I recently purchased my first ever Apple watch in the Nike + 44mm GPS version

Absolutely love it however after a month of ownership the screen is has a number of scratches which is disappointing to say the least, they are generally not too deep but deep enough.

I look after it very well and I cant remember any one occasion when I have caught/knocked it that would cause these scratches however they are there.

Am I just being to picky and this is just going to happen....and deal with it?

On a separate note my wife has a Series 1 SS version that she has had for years and she treats her's like crap...not a single scratch??? Whats that all about?

Stainless Apple Watches (like your wife's) have a sapphire screen which is more scratch resistant than the ion glass on the aluminum watches (like yours).

The scratches you are seeing could possibly be in the oleophobic coating, and not the glass itself. Some people use a screen protector that won't remove existing scratches but will hide minor ones and help prevent more.

If you choose to go with a protector, take note that some don't cover the screen edge to edge. Here is one that offers full-screen protection:

Fist off your wife’s SS version has a sapphire crystal so there’s that. Your Nike+ has ionX glass which will scratch easier however depends on usage. I always buy SS versions. I bought Series 4 SS and I also purchased an aluminum to see what the hype about scratching was. I have been wearing now for over a month and not babying it and there are no scratches I can see, even in direct sunlight.

My wife and I both wore S3 Nike AWs for a year with no scratches. We bought S4 Nike AWs when they were introduced and no scratches on those, either.

Do not worry ! I'm on the same boat. Got a S4 Nike and two days later I see scratches ! Sucks but I guess is normal. And I take ultra care of my items

i had SS and its great for no scratches but I just got screen protector for series 4 nike and so far works very well as long as you get a good brand.

I thought to do the same but I think a screen protector looks kinda bad on a watch ! i have apple care either way !

Screen protectors look worse than the scratches. Don't go that route. Just use it and don't worry about minor scratches. The devices are much more enjoyable to use when you aren't worried about small insignificant scratches.

IMO of course...

Completely agree ! You will feel bad for a few days but afterwards you dont even care anymore !

I don’t care for screen protectors either, but they will conceal any scratches that you visibly can see. If you can accept the scratches, and realize that a watch is very characteristic to have scratches when we wear it on a daily basis, then I would just ignore it the best you can.

Amazon has variety of screen protectors and there are plenty of turtorial videos how to install them.
