Hi, I just went from a 4S to an S4 and I am having trouble getting on with it. I can't figure out what program to install on my Mac (and S4) to make my iTunes, podcast etc to sync with my phone. Any suggestions?

Also I love a lot of the things with the S4 like the camera, the screen, maps, the unlock finger swiping is cool, the texting is harder with the continuous swiping but I am getting used to it.

Do you think I should persevere with the phone or send it back to EE and cancel my contract and wait for the new iPhone? I have a Macbook Pro, iPad (my wife has an iPhone too)

    Thanks!

You should definitely upload your full itunes music content to google music. Its extremely easy. Google Music even provides the upload option from iTunes.
Finally just download the music/podcast from your google music online directly to your phone using the music app.

I hope i understood your issue.

Or just try the previous posters suggestion.

For music if you want to do local/cloud combo, Google Music is the right utility. They have a mac utility that will upload all your music to the cloud, you can stream from the google music app on your phone, and download any set of music locally at any time.

Doubletwist is good for local only as it operates almost exactly like iTunes and has a great Mac client.

As far as picture sync, you can get Dropbox or Mega free and set up cloud sync everytime you're on wifi and plug in your phone as a way to have guaranteed backups.

Personally, besides the initial movement of music to my device, having also switched from a 4S, I've never synced my phone. The bevvy of Google Services has been so synchronous on it's own I haven't needed to.

Happy to provide more tips to you, my fellow 4S to S4 switcher!

I use Google Music. It allowed me to upload my entire 11,000 song library and stream it from wherever. Like another poster said, it'll even keep itself up to date with your iTunes library.

My friend had issues with the keyboard that came installed on his S4, so I suggested that he try out SwiftKey or the Google keyboard. I preferred either of them to the keyboard that come on my HTC One.

I stuck with it when I transitioned from my iPhone 4s to my HTC One. I've been happily flashing ROMs ever since. ;)

Thanks for the above tips. I have another few days before I can hand it back and cancel the contract if I don't like it.

    I hope it gets easier!

Swiftkey is worth a purchase, it's easily the best mobile keyboard I've used, iOS included.

You can fit the S4 into your Mac setup fairly well, if you are willing to put up with a few inconveniences (i.e. iCloud related...) then Android is a great OS.

I'd still say return the phone though. Mostly because EE suck balls and should go **** themselves :D

Honest answer? Tesco Mobile :p Runs on O2, has the same "refresh" plan, arguably the best customer service I've encountered, certainly the most competent. EE reps were friendly enough but they were for the most part useless...

That being said, I've grown quite attached to GiffGaff if you were willing to buy the phone unlocked yourself first.

I'm also thinking of going from my 4s to a galaxy s4. I know its going to be a uphill curve but im honestly sick of the iphones now. I will keep my 4s, and still have my old 3gs which is unlocked...........but how are you liking it? is it a big change from app store to the android store? Any recommendations on a blog like iclarified dot com?

    thanks

I made the jump 2 years ago with the S3 and I havent regretted it once.

I still enjoy Apple alot as I have a ton of their products like the ipad, appletv, imac, etc but the one and only device that isnt Apple is my phone.

I havent noticed a large difference in the Play Store but I also dont download a crap load of apps. They have all the necessary ones I had on my iPhone.

I pre-ordered the Note 3 the moment I could as I didnt have to wait for the 5S announcement as I was luckily right and nothing blew me away from swaying me from Android and the Note 3 at this time.

Not to say I wont check out the iPhone 6 whenever that is but give Android a whirl.

For the keyboard i use KII with an iphone theme, i like it alot more than swiftkey. Plus i can use iphone emoji with that keyboard, unlike swiftkey.
