I have updated to 8.4 and still exactly the same as when I updated to 8.3 on Dec 13th
At least Apple has admitted the 8.3 caused the problem. This they never did until now.
At least now the Apple support will not keep insisting we spend hours on the phone remote OSdiagnosing our watches and doing nothing at the end of it.

I wonder if this update also fixed the sticking notification swipe down issue.

Same here! 8.4 doesn't fix the third-party charger issue with my Series 7.

if you bought an apple series 7 Watch this the 31st January is the last day to return it even used. I did this yesterday and am getting a full refund.
I also bought again and having it arrive before I sen the old back.
This means I will be able to continue trying to make act responsibly with all this.
Apple kept blaming my 3 month old Watch and continued to ask me to accept remote OSDiagnosis etc.
Now they will not be able to with a brand new out of box Watch !!

Not to worry, folks, for I have just spoken to a Senior Advisor. After months of troubleshooting and waiting, the Senior Advisor informed me that they heard back from Engineering and the official troubleshooting is to keep your iOS and WatchOS up to date.

I am in contact with Apple.Com CEO Office in Ireland.
They know that none of the updates have worked.
They have no idea what to do about this at all. The 8.3 update on Dec 13th 2021 started the problem. Somehow the wobbly on dock original Apple Usb A chargers worked.
This and this later 8.4 updates have prevented this and they do not know why.
I don’t know what a Senior Advisor is but I have had all this on Apple Chat and senior advisors have not got a clue.

With WWDC coming-up soon, be prepared for it not to be resolved and to start being told by the corporate folks, “Apple’s Official Position on the Matter is to keep your iOS and WatchOS up to date.”

Search internet with “Lisa Jackson provides environmental news for iPhone 12”
Apple cannot go back on this.

8.4.1 today and still no difference.
Not only that today I phoned Apple sales 08000480408 and have asked for the call recording.
This where they said I should have bought a usb c charger as that is the only way to charge it.
This flies in the face of the fact VP Apple Environmental Office made this broadcast below on Sept 15 2020 saying we could use all our millions of old Apple series and even 3rd party chargers as we have always done.
We could until Dec 13th Apple Watch update 8.3

Ya 8.4.1 isn’t solving my S4 charging issues. It worked fine yesterday, but we’re back at it today.

The only solution I’ve gotten is going back and forth between my OEM and 3rd party chargers until one of them finally sticks to charging.

1. Jackson never once claimed what you think she did. I listened 3 times and each time what I heard is that there were simply alternatives. Never once did she claim old adapters could always be used.

2. Guess my Series 3 and 6 watches haven't been reading MR forums. Neither those, nor my wife's series 3 or 6 watches have had a single issue with charging on 8.3 plus...

Well please listen again.
Also this is to help customers with the problem and not so much anyone whom just posts to say this cannot be happening because mine’s fine

1. This presentation was about the iPhone, not the Apple Watch.

2. As you quoted, Jackson spoke of the numbers of alternatives out there. You are claiming specifics where she spoke of generalities.

3. I use a third party USB A Anker charger in my bedroom and a small Apple Watch charger on my office. Both work 100% each and every time.

4. You seem to be of the opinion that presentations such as this are somehow legally binding contracts. They're not. Whilst they could be used in a legal case in a class action suit, they're invariably seen as nothing more than sales hyperbole.

Forums I thought were for people to air their views on usually problems they have and I am quite surprised these problem sharing posts seem to get highjacked by the “can’t see what the problem is mine is fine brigade”
All I can say is lucky you.

May I also add that The Sept 15 2020 Apple Park broadcast talked of IPhone 12 because of the more than obvious reason that it was released for sale without a charger on October 23, 2020 a year before of the Apple Watch series 7 release on 15 October 2021
So even more the profound but empty words of Lisa Jackson and Tim Cook on the same day
