I'm not sure if anyone has gone over this yet. It appears that when you put your iPhone 6s into "Low Power Mode", in addition to disabling background activity, Hey Siri and some other things. It throttles down the CPU to that of the A8. Here are some benchmarks I ran on both a 6 Plus and 6s Plus.

-iPhone 6s Plus 128GB TSMC Chip-
3D Mark Ice Storm Unlimited: 28314
3D Mark Ice Storm Unlimited with Low Power Mode on (just for fun): 18207
Geekbench 3: 2532 Single-Core / 4401 Multi-Core
Geekbench 3 with Low Power Mode on (just for fun): 1467 Single-Core / 2447 Multi-Core

-iPhone 6 Plus 128GB-
3D Mark Ice Storm Unlimited: 18218
Geekbench 3: 1606 Single-Core / 2894 Multi-Core

It's more close to the A7-chip of the iPhone 5s, which scores around 1400 single-core and 2550 multi-core in Geekbench. ;)

Still not bad by the way, considering the iPhone 5s does perform pretty well. Also, the iPhone 6 with Low Power Mode turned on got these scores on mine:
Single-Core: 1028
Multi-Core: 1755
