Everyone complained and said iOS looked stale. Apple listened and gave us a fresh new UI and grabbed a whole bunch of jailbreak tweaks. If they had quick reply for messages/emails and make API's for apps like Whatsapp, then it'll be a home run.

I agree the control center is very helpful. I liked the new design, wasn't crazy about the icons, and was initially a little worried that there was just too much white.

However, the pictures didn't do iOS 7 justice, and it looked so much better in the videos.

I like the new home screen, I like some of the new features but I think it's ugly. I know some didn't like the shadows and shine of the current look but I think that's what set it apart from some of the other ugly, "flat", looks out there. Colors are also pastel in nature and I think that's fugly.

Not impressed really bud glad to see that apple is bringing in things that have been available for over a year

I'm not bothered by any Android feature stealing because those were probably on Cydia before Android.

What bothers me is how absolutely awful those icons are. The translucency is also a bit OTT. The UI just feels very unfinished and I can't comprehend that this was approved to be the (near) final design.

Hard to really improve the UI at this stage of the game. Extra features( i.e. control panel) seem more exciting than the new Icons.
Wondering what the publics reaction is going to be when they actually get this in their hands.

Craig Federighi was the real star. Charismatic and funny! I thought Apple Keynotes were doomed with Steve gone, but I think they have their guy! Keep him front and center from now on!
Second this.

Craig was confident, relaxed, entertaining, yet informative, swimming comfortably both in the deep and shallow ends of the pool. Go Craig!

i have not read the whole thread but i will add this.......i am a android nexus 4 user, left apple about 6 months ago as bored with ios 6......

now,

ios 7 gives me a little flutter in the nether regions  maybe even enough to get me coming back, no massive changes in the os, but important ones. I like the look, especially on the white iphone, ios seems to suit it if you follow?

copy android? possibly..........but apple always seem to do it just a bit better, more fluid.

but i do like my nexus 4!

not impressed at all, apple is just copying android

BS, they all borrow from each other, read this.

The global influence of iOS 7’s design language
Photocopying? Not so much—more like walking a well-trodden path of good design.

It was hardly a secret that the look of iOS was due for a design makeover. Former iOS software head Scott Forstall was out, and Apple's product designer Jony Ive was in. Ive apparently winced when asked about the stitched leather look of some apps—it was obvious the days of faux texture were numbered.

...

My colleague Florence Ion argued that Apple was taking its cues from Android now, that the student had become the teacher. I think it's actually a lot more nuanced than that, and the interesting thing about the iOS 7 makeover is how broad the design debate has become. It's not a binary conversation.

I'm a user and fan of both ios and android. I think Apple may have a little work to do with their colours and some of the icons.

But ios7 looks great and I'll be happy to have it in the Autumn.

Managed to load iOS 7 on my iP5 yesterday. Don't care for the neon and pastel colors. Translucency makes it hard to see some fonts sometimes, iMessage looks absolutely horrendous. Wish there was a "dark mode" to choose from. Aside from a few nice improvements, iOS 7 needs more polishing not impressed going back to iOS 6.

Agree. I may not upgrade at all.

It's Beta. Very beta. I love how u guys pass judgement before its complete. If your not a developer it's not meant for you!

Erm... it's a message board... for people's opinions...

Anyway, I played with iOS 7 for a bit yesterday. It's nice, but I think it'll be awhile after the official launch of iOS 7 before it is usable. Sure, iOS 6 is "stale", but it is rock solid.

iOS6 reminds me of windows XP. No frills, long in the tooth, but gets the job done.

iOS 7 is an improvement, but the design language seems to be all over the place.
1. Control center is a good start, but wish it had less stuff (or that Apple allowed us to choose what we want to put there sort of like notification center).
2. Today notification is lacking (hopefully its beta 1 issue)
3. Mulittasking is improved, but shouldnt require a (maybe 2 finger swipe up?) double tap of the home button.
4. Still need a clear all button for notifications
5. Quick reply needs to be there. No need to leave an application to reply to a mesasge
6. Live clock, but no live weather? Makes no sense to me as one is useful (weather) and the other is not since the clock is on the top of the screen at all times
7. The 4*4 grid system still feels 6 years old and flipping screens for my apps seems unituitive.
8. Animations are too slow. (hopefully a beta 1 issue again)

It's a small step in the right direction. Hopefully iOS7 improves as more beta's are released.

Add to that delete all option in mail and messages, quick dial screen access on the lockscreen like there is for camera.

On the ipad i imagine multitasking will not require double tapping but rather 4 finger swipe.

Just getting really annoying that they announce new OS in June, but then we do not get it until September or October. They used to announce new iPhones and OS in June and available soon after.

Personally they should announce new HW and SW and make it available soon after. it is not like the developers can not write all the new code to adjust to the apps, they have done this before.

By the way what does it cost to become a developer so you can get your hands on the Beta's when they come out? I thought it was like $100.00 year or something like that to get all the SDK's?

I heard $100 also. Personally I would not pay that for a beta OS.
