I'm really looking forward to Snow Leopard, there have been more than enough really cool new features added, and I still haven't really explored all of them. All of the applications have come a long way since I first started using OSX, right before the time when Apple officially announced the transition away from OS9. Some of the new applications aren't quite as polished as they could be, and OSX has grown significantly. Hopefully Snow Leopard addresses all of those issues and increases the performance, security, and reliability of the OS before focusing on new projects. It's always easier to build upon a strong base, and it helps locate potential problems along the way.

This means it's a good chance for updates mac models soon. This new update could probably contain, for example, drivers for new videocards for new notebooks.

Since all other manufacturers have released or announced their Centrino 2 notebooks by now, Apple goes back to being one of the last...

True, if Apple's new Macbooks use Centrino 2. There is considerable speculation that Apple will turn to another chipset, most likely from nVidia.

YES, BUT 10.5.5 will be out at the latest-just 2 months after 10.5.4-probably any minute

June 30 >10.5.4
Aug 22 >10.5.5 (guess)

it a fast seed w/ NKI

OT: learned something new

So you prefer keystrokes over right clicking. I can respect that.

If you use spaces just have the documents folder open in a space and assign that space a keystroke.

Like cmd-1.

That takes you right to the already open documents folder.

hmm, just for giggles, I tried cmd-1, cmd-2, etc. to see if those were bound to Spaces (I actually expected nothing at all to happen), instead, it pointed my browser to the bookmarks on my bookmarks toolbar. This is when my browser (recent Webkit build) is the active app. In mail it changes from inbox to sent, etc. There is no default for finder.

Yes, I use ctrl-<arrow key> to navigate Spaces, just thought that cmd-1 would be a cool shortcut to get to screen #1.

I switched nearly 2 years ago and still am learning cool stuff. :)

what bugs?

Where exactly are these lists of bugfixes? Does Apple keep them secret or something?

I'm hoping that this will finally alleviate most of the new OS bugs....it seems to have taken Leopard a longer period of time to get to the completely stable state....I guess that is why the next one is Snow Leopard....just going to fix up and polish the OS...

From what I understand 10.5 is alot more scalable than 10.4 - I remember when FreeBSD started to remove the GFL (Giant F-cking Lock), all manner of bugs started to appear. 5.x for most people was an absolute disaster in terms of quality; so bad that alot stayed with 4.x (which is what I did). 6.x is an improvement and 7.x is a huge improvement.

10.5 will experience the same things; they've made it more scalable, and as a result, bugs appear in code which was thought to be clean.

Is it possible that along with bug fixes, this update will fix the issue with mobileme syncing between the iphone/touch and the desktop? because i remember it being somewhere in the leopard syncing framework that it only pushes or recieves data every 15 min. i don't know the exact issue, but i know there is one.

Hopefully this will also correct the issue of X11.app breaking when updating to 10.5.4 from a fresh install of 10.5.1. That is an annoying bug to deal with when you really use X11 frequently.

Apple keeps them secret until once the update is released. Reason being, any security bugs could be taken advantage of if they announced them before the update was released to take care of it.

However, in one of the earlier 10.5.5 build discussions, someone posted a list of fixes. How legit they are I don't know, but since you asked:

OS X 10.5.5 Fixes

It's possible, but IMO unlikely because it's a pretty big change to make in a short time.

Changes made on the Mac do not push immediately to the cloud because the apps do not push the data themselves; instead they depend on the OS's sync services, which only runs at specific intervals.

Changes made to the cloud should push immediately (more or less) to the Mac (if it's running OS X, not Windows).

LEOPARD IS BUGGIEST MAC OS SINCE 10.2....

A Few Requests....

How about better PowerPC support, less kernel panics?

How about fixing all the graphics card issues reported at Apple Discussions?
Seriously, how is it that an ATI Radeon 9800 or Apple Radeon 9600 or (a list of others at Apple Discussions) video cards work fine in Mac OS X Tiger, yet fail or artifact in Mac OS X Leopard in Powermac G4 & G5 towers? This is a constant problem that must be fixed and still hasn't even at 10.5.4!!! That's very sad.

How about being able to click on a folder in the dock & have it open as an, ummmm, ya know, just a DAMN FOLDER!?!?!?!?! GRRRRRRR

How about filing an offical bugreport to Apple instead of whining on a forum.

clear the caches, or use onxy I think it's called

It isn't that. I've reinstalled OS X, zapped SMC and PRAM. It varies, I'm half convinced it might be a dodgy thermometer or just very badly applied thermal paste.

If it is still consistent with this update, might see if it is the thermal paste.
