You mean, completely unacceptable for a company like that to be valued a multi trillion dollars.Completely unacceptable for a multi trillion dollar company.
All the notes are plaintext. At least it included attachments.
Do Time Machine backups on the Mac provide any way to recover Notes?
And what if your notes app isn't checked off with iCloud like mine?
Earlier this month, we reported about some iPhone users temporarily losing all of their notes in the Notes app after accepting Apple's updated iCloud terms and conditions. Apple has now indirectly acknowledged this issue in a new support document that outlines steps to follow if your iCloud notes are not appearing on your iPhone, iPad, or Vision Pro.

Fortunately, the notes can be re-synced from iCloud. Apple's steps are pretty much identical to the ones we shared earlier this month:Apple updated its iCloud terms and conditions with some minor changes in September, and it has been notifying users about accepting them in recent weeks. The issue with notes disappearing has continued to affect iPhone users since our initial coverage of it earlier this month, according to social media posts.
Notes disappearing has not been the only problem. In another new support document, Apple said iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro users who receive a "Cannot Complete Action" error message when trying to accept the updated iCloud terms and conditions should update to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or visionOS and try again.

That's what I want to know. I was expecting that TM would backup this stuff right?Do Time Machine backups on the Mac provide any way to recover Notes? I feel pretty decent about my ability to recover from failures with Photos and iCloud Drive, but I wonder about Notes, as the database doesn't seem very accessible...
You can Export them from the Notes app as PDFs, but it's a manual, labour intensive, one-by-one process and so they can't easily be versionized.
Interesting.I don’t trust icloud for anything except syncing safari bookmarks and messages. It almost always gets the ordering of the bookmarks wrong across devices.
Just glad my MacBook doesn’t sync messages to the iCloud and they’re still all present.
If you override filename.pdf you'll end up with a single pdf...from the last exported note. Can do it via Shortcuts. Basic outline is:
Single Note save attached.
- Find Notes
- Repeat with each Note
- Make PDF from Repeat Item
- Save PDF to
- End Repeat
I get it, not for everyone, and Apple does need to do better with Notes, but there are options.
Talking of which 😂 , photos stored in iCloud Photos or Files. If I don’t use Advanced Data Protection, can anyone at Apple view these files and photos ?Is this better or worse than keeping deleted nudes?
Messages. Down from 25GB to 800 MB , Apple put me on a diet somehow.Do you mean Messages or Notes?
Because Messages somehow got saved in the cloud before iCloud even had a function for Messages to sync.
You could delete a whole conversation and the contact and if you just enter the phone number in Messages you could scroll back to the very first message years ago on a new empty device.
Only iMessages had to be activated. I am not sure if this also worked on a Mac.
I always wondered where and how this is stored and if this is still the case. It didn't even took space from iCloud and there could be masses of photos and videos in there. You didn't even have to bee logged in to iCloud for this.
Yes, your photos and files on iCloud can be viewed by someone at Apple if you don’t use Advanced Data Protection.Talking of which 😂 , photos stored in iCloud Photos or Files. If I don’t use Advanced Data Protection, can anyone at Apple view these files and photos ?
