Apple Acquires AI Startup Vilynx to Improve Siri

Every time I turn around Apple is acquiring and hiring to improve Siri and yet Siri is still lackluster, even doing the most basic stuff. Siri seems like a money losing operation quite frankly.

Siri is still embarrassingly bad. Specially when your phone language and Siri language aren't the same. It just works DOESN'T work.

Now is probably a good time to point out that despite the myths spread on these sites, Siri consistently outperforms Alexa in nearly all categories for accuracy in independent testing. Siri is overall #2, but closing On Google, indeed out performing Google nowadays in some areas, but consistently ahead of Alexa, Cortana, and Bixby.
I can’t speak about the performance in English as I’m not an native english speaker, but in my “independent testing” Siri is shocking and feels decades behind Google, and years behind Alexa, which is a close second compared to Google. The main problem is that Siri can’t understand even the most basic questions well enough. I asked her how old Naomi Campbell was and it kept telling me that John Campbell is 48. I mean how does it even mistake Naomi for John is beyond me. Not to mention the fact that if I have any kind of audio playing, either from my device or TV, it’s basically almost impossible to activate Siri even if you shout her name, while I can activate my google mini from the other side of the house with no issues, and it’s sitting right next to the TV. Google is vastly superior when it comes to voice assistant, at least for non english speakers, it’s not even close at all. They are embarassingly ahead. Maybe Siri works quite well for English speakers, I don’t know. But I know for a fact that it’s borderline useless in Spanish, Italian, and French if you have Google assistant or even Alexa available. And if you don’t, most of the time you are better off typing your question rather than trying to get Siri understand you.
