As a Gen Y who often marvels at the technological illiteracy of older generations, I sometimes wonder what new developments I'll never really get used to. I imagine "talking to inanimate objects" is probably one of them. It will always seem strange to me, even when Gen Zs are carrying on conversations with their iPhone 25s and so forth.

Get off my lawn!

Awesome! I love seeing technology moving forward. Every new step I wonder how we were satisfied with the previous one. lol

Did you just laugh out loud at your own comment?

I want to like Siri. I don't dislike Siri. I wish I used it more. I just don't. But I always get excited to hear about updates to it.

It, did you just say it. Siri is listening you know. She also has feelings.

I have no interest in conversations with my phone. I barely have interest in conversation via my phone.

But you kids have a blast.
I find Siri quite useful as it is, nothing to do with having a conversation with your phone ;). Very good for setting timers and alerts. It was quite accurate dictating messages on my Apple Watch too.

It's a strange, useful future.

I'm not sure you read this article.

So, it's pronounced just the way it's spelled. Just like "Worcester", "quay", "gaol", and "pwll mawr".
Now pwll mawr is not a good example as it isn't English at all, it is Welsh.
Anyway, I hope this company will make Siri even better.

Any idea when Apple bought the company responsible for Siri? Was it a year or two before iPhone 4s ?

I read that as if the T-100 was asking the question. o_O

I just want Siri to tighten the gap between Cortana and Google in accordance to queries answered without resorting to a web search.
Have you tried Siri in iOS 9 yet? She asks to read most answers found on the web to you now. They are all searching the web for answers but the one that answers fastest and most naturally wins.

Yay, Apple bought something in the UK for the first time :)
Hardly the first time.
IMSense (high dynamic range photography) was bought in 2010.
Also Novauris (speech) 2013.
(And of course Apple invested big in ARM, though didn't buy them, back in the Newton days, which has ultimately worked well for both of them!)

Look, we don't care about how you use English, but please stop saying 'we could care less'. The only thing you rule out is that you care nothing, which is exactly what you're trying to convey.

Love, the Queen.

Pretty sure it's 'we couldn't care less.' Admittedly, many people in the US don't seem to appreciate the difference. Maybe they just don't care.

Oh great!... Now I'm going to have to say AL-U-MIN-E-UM instead of Aluminum.
I'm American but... Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Sodium, Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium, Scandium, Titanium (etc)... and Aluminum? I'm sorry, but there's just no way Americans are correct with this one.

I love Americanisms. In the UK, vests, pants, fannies, dummies and pissed all mean radically different things. I'm pretty sure the mad phrase 'tie-break situation' originated in the US. And who on Earth dreamed up the amazing name 'station wagon'?

"You're going to jail" seems to be a favourite phrase on US TV cops shows. In the UK, that won't happen without a magistrates' court getting involved.

We should celebrate our glorious differences!

Except in the US. Here, it's Aluminum. At least according to the American Chemical Society.
Just sayin'

Well, not when they're talking to an a scientist anywhere in the world... They just have to adapt then hey... All whole list of elements have the same ending, removing the "i" just in that one is just dumb.

BTW, Do you say give me some Sodum, Lithum, Patassum, or want an Helum balloon, or make me a Titanum Alloy... I think not. Sorry Americans...

It's better in some ways, but about the same in most others. Voice AI just isn't really that intelligent yet unfortunately. Maybe this acquisition will change things. Siri has made big improvements since she was first released, but it's not like talking to her is very natural.

Agreed, but Google Now is worse in some ways too. Case in point... Ask GN to "create an appointment for brunch tomorrow at 1pm" a little after midnight and it'll create it for the following day. Siri is smart enough to ask if I meant that day or the following day.

Also, I remember asking Google to "remind me"... I paused for a second and it simply launched the reminders app. Siri is more intelligent and will ask what I should be reminded of.

Again, I'm just trying to understand how Siri gets such a bad rap when overall, it seems to be on equal footing with GN; better at some things, worse at others. Based on the lack of responses, I get the sense that most people don't have any real evidence to back up their "GN/Cortana is better than Siri" remarks.

I want to get home and Siri be like, How was work Dionte?
And then we have a nice little chat.
