24...

24...

The original Macintosh's 68000 CPU has 24-bit addressing.

The first Mac II color display adapter has a 24-bit palette.

The 24th letter in the alphabet is X. As in...OS X.

Well, the new iMac commercial does have Jeff Goldbloom's voice. But the commercial is still good.

I hate to be a nag...but that wasn't Jeff GoldBlum's voice either....

I hate to disagree, but I'm pretty sure it was. I'd recognize that voice anywhere.
He's just not hemming and hawing like he usually does.

I was debating over an ibook vs pbook.... well, that debate can wait till March 25.

If I remember correctly there was a statement released saying there would be no new "Macs" at the Tokyo Expo.

I'm expecting something new and big. Maybe if Firewire 2 gets the stamp of approval before then we will see iPod2 with Firewire2?

Wow, I didn't think that this post would make it to the front page of MacRumors :D , anyways...

I think arn's right. Apple will introduce some kick-ass product during MW Tokyo (Jobs is doing a keynote!), and Apple will promote it to the public with this commercial. Now, we know that it can't easialy be a computer because they've all been updated recently, unless its a new revised PoweBook, but even then, that's stretching it. That leaves just new hardware, or software to be introduced!

It has to be something big...something just announced at MWTY.

I hope so, but since we have the new commercial...I'd expect to just see the one aired last night. Unless the talk is true and Apple has made several, and they'll debut a new one.
I'm happy no matter what they show. The more Apple advertising, the better.

hey, madamimadamtimallen, i don't know what city you're in but in both Melbourne and Sydney, they've got poster ads at some of the train stations in the more wealthy areas...

We don't get a great deal of Ads in BrisVegas but we do get some poster ads. I was refering to the TV ads, though, of which the US get over 1000% more than we do.

The Oscar audience is a HUGE cross-section of the consumer market. I wouldn't expect to see a commercial that just focuses on iMovie or (never) FCP.

FCP is a Pro-User App that pretty much sells itself. What else are you going to use with a Mac? --And why confuse the average consumer? "I thought that iMovie was good enough... now I have to spend $1000 to edit my home movies?" Way to narrow.

This Oscar spot will be a new ad. It will be "cool." And it will tie together the entire "Digital Hub" strategy - featuring all four iApps (probably centered aroung the iMac).

Now that they have made individual commercials for all the iApps it's time to let their powers combine.

Seve Job's birthday

Nice facts:
Read in the newspaper, Steve Job's birthday is on 23th februari.
Reliable newspaper !

Could It Be?

Just imagine, 3 movies in CGI, also animated short subjects, Both categories Pixar is In (Monsters Inc, The Birds or something) Could it be!!!

The more I think about it, the more likely it is to me that it will be an iMac commercial that has more substance. A one-two punch of sorts. The first commercial at the store window got peeps talking, now it gives them some info.

24 24 24 24 24 24 24 24 24 24 24 24 24

The Apple Store is open 24 hours per day.

May 24th, 1985: Sculley and Jobs have a hard argument that day. Sculley asks the executives to choose sides between Jobs and himself. This later led to Jobs being stripped of all operational responsibilities with the company.

October 24th, 1985: John Sculley signs the worst contract Apple ever has made. He agrees that Microsoft may use some Mac GUI (Graphical User Interface) technologies if it continues producing software for the Mac (Word, Excel). If Sculley wouldn't have signed this deal Windows would have never been introduced since the similarities to the MacOS were so obvious that Apple would have easily won any lawsuits against Microsoft!

August 24th , 1993: The court decides that Windows 2.0.3 was covered by the 1985 deal between Apple and Microsoft.

January 24th, 1997: MacOS 7.6 is introduced, <joke> a monumental triumph for the OS that introduced improvements to virtual memory and extensions manager.</joke>

March 24th, 2001: MacOS X 10.0 is officially released. It is a silent release since Apple wants to have a major release event in July at MacWorldExpo when MacOS X 10.1 ships. At that time numerous third-party software will be available for MacOS X.

And well, the iPod debuted on the 23rd. Darn thing anyway!
