there are other devices that even bend more, but they are not getting any critics.....
I don't give a crap about some replicated lab test.

All I know is I have a large amount of phones, of all sizes and materials, and not one apart from the Iphone 6+ has bent on me.

I'm not making excuses for myself, However my phone habits have not changed, Only the phone and the only phone that I have had that has had this problem is the 6+.

One shouldn't have to change their phone use habit, though I can see the point that bigger phones wouldn't be as comfortable in your pant pocket. I never really paid much attention to how many people actually carry their phones in there back pockets until I started seeing this issue discussed Then I started paying attention and it's really more common than I ever imagined.

Like someone above said if strengthening the newer version is considered an admission this was an issue, then so be it. I am just glad they are doing so, because there have been far too many people that have said they have had this issue. I think it's been more prevalent that Apple has admitted. Though I guess as long as they exchange them they don't really have to admit anything. One thing for sure not everyone sees this the same.

Well Samsung for denied that there was a problem. They didn't say that there where only 9 complaints, they said nothing about complaints. They tried to silence anybody who showed that their phones also bent. They even build a "butt robot" to prove their phones don't bend.

So cheer for them already - we know you want to.

Because Samsung is worse that makes Apple "good"?

The existence of weak points does not imply a lack of structural soundness. Every single structure has a weak point somewhere. I don't think anyone denied that the 6 enclosure had a weak point somewhere. What people denied was whether that weak point was weak enough to cause alarm and hysteria affecting every single owner.

Strengthening a structures weak point also does not imply an admittance to a major flaw in the original structure. It simply means, they found a way to strengthen the weak point, and naturally would want to improve and iterate. If there was a major lack of structural rigidity to the enclosure, it wouldn't have passed a 3 point bend test. In case you forgot, the Galaxy S6 scored lower on 3 point bend tests done by a third party.

Only irrational and immature people deal in such absolutes like that. Thinking, the existence of weak points therefore means the whole thing is weak. A structure has to have a weak point somewhere, unless you want a solid block for a phone. The iPhone 5s weak point was the join between the top/bottom antenna frames with the mid-chassis. Which Apple strengthened in the iPhone 6 design. Does improving that imply that there was some terrible flaw in the iPhone 5s structural rigidity? You probably never even knew that weak point existed. Because it's a weak point, not a catastrophe waiting to happen.

We're talking about phones here people.

How does Samsung scoring worse have anything at all to do with anything? Whats the value in saying that this turd worse than the other turd when they're all turds.

Let's all keep in mind, that the Samesung phones bent more than an iPhone 6 or 6+ did in bend tests.

Samesung will no doubt also be putting enhanced strength into their next phones.

See above two posts.

Large, thin, lightweight, metal phones bend and cost cutting exacerbates the issue.

Can you clarify to what you would like answered? Because, within this topic and your post alone, there are quite a few issues with society.
Haha, very good point. I'm saying people are expecting the phone to be unbreakable. If anyone would have broken it would be me. The phone is less breakable than Samsung's Note yet everyone's getting their panties up in a bunch... It shouldn't be an epiphany not to abuse your phone or sit on it as it will break.

LOL, phones break?? WOW let's sue EVERYONE for phones that break! Especially phones that are no more or less breakable than all the other competing phones that cost the same.
I wear mine in my tight hipster pants and I have thick thighs and cycle daily with my phone stuck in my pocket... I fully expected it to bend when I saw those articles about bending.

But you know what?!? No issue over a year now.

I'm not superman, I'm not special, I'm just smart enough not to sit on it and if I do, I own up to my own stupidity...

I think we should start a campaign on glasses that break when they fall and cars that dent when they run into each other! Damn the companies for designing products that can break! *CLUTCHES PEARLS*

But in this case it is "fix". Apple specifically altering the design to address the issue confirms that it is an issue. An issue that affected far more than 9 people. Far more people complain about battery life and yet we don't see Apple "enhance" subsequent phones to have longer battery life.

If far more people complained about the battery life, this is proof of a real issue and they did not fix it. So how do you conclude that them fixing an non-issue is a confirmation?

The fact that Apple is addressing the bending is a pretty clear cut indication that you're, well... Wrong.

If it only bent on purpose, and the 6s will also bend if someone does so purposefully, why would Apple bother?

Answer: They wouldn't. You're just making up your own version of reality.

Let me get this straight because I could be misunderstanding your logic:

Apple is at fault for producing a phone that is slightly less bendable than ALL OTHER phones of the SAME size and price...

So I can sue Mercedes because it dents my bumper when I ram another car? It's proof that I'm right because this year Mercedes strengthened their chassis so it is less likely to bend...

I should also be able to sue Crate and Barrel because the glasses I bought break when I sit on them...

Oh wait, maybe this logic is better, I for some reason (I'm an idiot with lots of time on my hands and lots of money) try to bend my Macbook Pro and darn it it bends, I should be upset about that as well...

Here's a solution, don't try to bend the phone, or maybe don't sit on it, and if you do admit it...

P.S. I have thick thighs, All my pants are tight as a result (can't budge my phone tight, yes life sucks for me), I cycle daily with my poor 6 plus stuck in my pants and guess what, no bending. I freaked when I first saw those videos and it's been a year of nothing.

I'm not sure where to even begin, so I'll just say yes, you're misunderstanding. I thought I was pretty clear, so i'll just suggest you read it again. If after reading it again, you feel compelled to reply same way, then I'm sorry. I can't simplify it any further for you, you can carry on thinking whatever it is you're thinking. Meanwhile, the 6S has a thicker shell, for a reason. Period.

Right, any product improvement is only proof that the previous product sucked and needs to get sued. Got you!

I never mentioned anything about law suits, that was just an over zealous Apple fanboy losing is little mind and started rambling when replying to me because he saw someone criticize Apple. Kind of like you're doing now.

9 is the number REPORTED BY APPLE at that time 4 weeks after launch and 12-15M phones shipped. Look it up.

Actually, the Apple statement concerned the first launch week, before people even knew they could or should report the problem to Apple instead of to their carrier or retailer:

"With normal use a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus."

It has nothing with, what got media attention.

I think the person you responded to is right: nine is a number that was ... and still is... widely repeated by the media and posters from the very beginning, even though the total is more likely in the thousands by now. It's a tiny percentage of sales, though.

If you're saying that certain videos also caught media attention, that's correct too.

The only thing I can add is that this type aluminum is used in rather spiffy road warrior bikes. It's very light and very strong. The only downside is that it tends to fail all at once at the weld, not much of a problem in a smartphone as no one is about to put a pair of wheels on even a six plus and attempt to ride it.

I don't think that the iPhone case will have any welds anyways, it will be casted.
