Agree you only pay $29 for the screen repair now, but it looks like it does count as one incident of accidental damage:

Well, that sucks, but I guess they have to try and prevent abuse of the coverage. Deter people from abusing their phones thinking they can just replace the screen each time for $29.

Fortunately for me, I have been lucky to never need Apple Care. I am very cautious with my Apple devices. But there are those times when accidents do happen and this would be beneficial.

This is interesting.
How much would changing a battery under AppleCare plus cost? If it even covers it after y1.
Zero...
As it has always been...
As long as it's not physical damage, then it's covered by AppleCare with no fee

What about people that already have AppleCare+ with an iPhone SE for instance ? Fees went from $69 to $99 ! They can't increase fees mid-contract, it breaks the contract... Right ?

Pretty sure with companies like this and contracts in general nowadays there's likely some clause in the fine print allowing a change

Oh, do they not check serial numbers before doing repairs in Orange County??

Pretty sure pretty much every Apple Store ever checks the serial numbers. More to the point as they take your information other things may be crossed referenced and they're going to have someone's info on file so not wise to try and cheat the system

They'd have some means for potential repricussions

Apple never replace battery, they replace device. If your battery doesn't provide specified performance you can get free device replacement.

Lol, yeah I know!
I was trying to say to the original poster: "wow... suggesting pulling a scam in the dumbest way possible; a way that there are clearly safeguards against- ummmm, ok". I just didn't want to be QUITE so cheeky, so I posted it in the form of a question. They did say say were looking for a partner to aide them in their lame idea for a scam; that "lived in Orange County"... I thought that posing the question of "Oh, do they not check serial numbers there?" would lead them to realize (as you and I do), that they do those EVERYWHERE, & perhaps feel a bit sheepish for airing that silly scheme in the 1st place! =P

I would assume this apples if you already have Apple care plus for your iPhone 6s Plus. I'm happy with this cost reduction. It's a common repair.

They check the serial number to make sure the phone is covered.
Do you have to have AppleCare to take advantage of the repair of your iPhone 6 if it's under a year old? More than the screen is broken btw. It's also a little bent. Tx

I've been living dangerously.... I haven't bought any Apple Care for my iPhone's since I think the 3GS. So far I've been lucky and never had any problems with them or accidental damage.

Really? In the second year w plus? What about battery percentage to be eligible in that second year?

Ah that makes more sense
Sorry my bad
Carry on have a nice rest of the week
And hopefully your intent was
Successful for the original posters sake

Does that apply retroactively to Apple Care purchased before today?

I can confirm it does apply retroactively. I dropped my 6S and shattered the screen. Went into the store today not knowing about this change and to my surprise the charge was only $29. They would charge the full deductible price if there was water damage though per the apple service person.

Obviously battery is going to get worse on a second year.

Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery service for $79, plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax.

I guess if you did less than 500 cycles and it is less than 80%, you can replace it for free.

I know that, is the first year and regular free warranty that comes w the device. You don't need extra warranty to take advantage of the battery service
I asked w applecareplus

I payed less than that using a 3rd party service, http://www.useprotection.me. They covered half my repair so it cost about $30 for the screen to fix, and then I paid $7 a mo. So $84+30 = $114. And it was fixed under an hour. Better than applecare IMO but the $29 does sound lucrative.
