I’d love to see them add fitness workouts geared towards obese people who may not know where to start, require modified workouts based on size, and are otherwise too embarrassed to go to a gym.
Just go for a walk and eat less or be cognizant of the food you put into your mouth. And also try and eat dinner at minimum 5 hours before going to bed.

Direct? Maybe. I lost 85 pounds in 2 1/2 months and over 15 years later have kept it up and at 37 and never had a better body and best shape of my entire life.

The worst workout you’ll ever do, is the one you don’t.

No, the author literally means the pelvic floor. They are not referring to the vagina.
If the author means the pelvic floor, he can, of course, just call it the pelvic floor and leave it at that. If someone doesn’t understand what that is, thank goodness, they’re already in a web browser and can open a new tab to look it up.

I don’t entirely fault the person to whom you were replying for believing that the phrase of concern was euphemistic in reference to the vagina because it’s needlessly wordy and confusing. Specifically, given only the wording of the sentence, it’s unclear whether the phrase “that relax during childbirth” applies to “muscles supporting organs” or “organs in the pelvis.” Sure, someone familiar with human anatomy would likely be able to deduce which it is, but that’s no excuse for imprecise wording.

Perhaps this instead: “CNET reports that some of the new workouts aim to restrengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which relax during childbirth.”

While I agree that is a good idea, it's only part of the issue. I did some work a long time ago doing statistical analysis of weight los in obese patients. There are often medical or psychological reasons underlying the weight gain, and must be addressed or while they may lose weight they rarely would keep it off.

The phrasing from CNET's article is a bit clearer (but longer), and… they're clearly not shy to use the word "vagina", so I don't think it was intended as a euphemism:

The program's new postpartum workouts will include strength and core exercises, including some that target the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles supporting the organs in the pelvis that relax during the birthing process and may need to be restrengthened.

While you should still check in with your health care provider to see what level of activity is safe for you after pregnancy, the Fitness Plus workouts are intended both for people who had a C-section and those who had a vaginal delivery.

Really cool addition! Hoping this kicks off another round of features and updates for Fitness+. They had a pretty good run of updates early on and haven't done much since. I'd love to see some options to display more metrics on the screen during a workout aside from the heart rate and rings.

Now how about fix the calorie count for each exercise. Rowing for 30 minutes at 85% MHR gives me the same calorie output as walking 2mph for 30 min.

Oh yes, I’m referring to the MacRumors paraphrase. I never thought it was a euphemism, but like I said, I can’t entirely fault someone for thinking that it was.

I was referring to the MR writer’s use of ‘organs’ (I quoted the sentence but made part of it bold to emphasise the section I was talking about).

The thing is, the CNET article isn’t the same as the reporting here – which just points to the CNET article – but as you’ve mentioned doesn’t use specific terms…

It would be easy to presume the writer chose their language for brevity, but unfortunately other, less benign, reasons are still prevalent.

Or for those recovering from injuries, that might be a bit easier on the joints.

Difficult to do all the squats & lunges when your knees are about to give out on you

So, this is not my comment, but I shared this post with my wife who is an active Fitness+ user and she said "The first $%^#&# comment is somebody saying I wish that they had workouts for obese people who may not know how to start… And I want to say obviously you don’t have Apple fitness because they have an entire beginner series and within every single work out they have like a super low modification of like three different levels of modifications on every workout so obese people could 100% do it"

You fired her up haha!! Guess, we need to exercise some of that old wisdom of not making assumption here haha.

The beginner series is a grand total of 15 workouts. And seeing fit people working out while saying "Modify this to your level" isn't the same as an out of shape person needing extra time between intervals.

I have Apple One (not the only one making assumptions) and it has been awhile since I last looked at Fitness+. So my apologies for not realizing this. I don't know if I had just missed this before or if it was something that was added in later. But either way I'm happy to hear this and will have to give Fitness+ another try this week.

Possibly best comment I've ever read on MR. This is not a shaming thing. This is a real issue that that many people have, for a LOT of reasons which I will not be reductive about. And it's really hard to ask for help. If introduced with empathy and privacy, this could be massively beneficial to consumer health, both mental and physical. My mom would be all about this. She's been through the ringer with health issues after surviving lymphoma, and has had trouble maintaining a healthy weight ever since. Empathetic, personalized, biometric-informed workouts with custom safety thresholds for obesity? If you haven't already, can you please submit this to Apple as a feature suggestion? https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-fitness-plus/

I’m surprised that Apple hasn’t made a serious attempt to focus on sexual health and wellness beyond menstrual cycle tracking and now postpartum exercises. I can’t help but feel that mens needs are not yet being addressed, but this is a step in the right direction. The Apple Watch would be particularly ideal for masturbation tracking and statistics. Hopefully this will become more of a priority for them.

"Congrats on baby, now lose that weight girl!" o_O

I was going to send this to my cousin who literally just had a baby today... but then I checked myself.
Yeah just after having a baby - you’d be getting worse than a coal in your stocking stuffer this Xmas lol.

Honestly I fully support this new addition to Fitness+ for new mothers that do have an interest into getting into physical heath. I stress on health because they’re already been eating healthy for two. Now the exercise to help them beget back to the body before pregnancy will help huge for their own personal look internally for themselves, new found strength and stamina and able to breath much better.

I expect more fitness+ offers such as those with some mobility restriction, better for joint stretches (like rotator cuff movements), and most importantly missing :

Nutrition and an EASY yet tracking layout. How it can be easy to see how a meal before and after affects physical or emotional performance etc

First time I saw this I read this as, "Apple Adds Postmortem Workouts to Fitness+"

I really need a second cup of coffee before I tackle more of the day.

"Time to Walk" is arguably that. Haven't tried it myself, but taking a walk is a fairly easy way to get started. (Personally, I recommend finding a good podcast and listening to that.)
Agh. I find the idea of listening to someone yap about their life while walking to be annoying. I listened to Zachary Quinto's bit and it was surprisingly interesting and funny. Otherwise the idea is unwanted and so I don't listen to that. I want to go OUT and unplug.

I was thinking of Fitness+ yesterday and how that, even with my free 1 year subscription from my health plan, I still don't use it. I just don't like the idea of being indoors for exercise. I WOULD like an "outdoors mode", however! I don't quite know what that looks like, tho. I just don't want yapping in my ear. My outdoor time is me-in-the-world time. That's crucial to my ADD and time to "rewind/unwind the brain".

Fair enough.

I eventually just find walking through the city a bit boring. There's little parks and forests and ducks at the river and all that, and I occasionally take the opportunity to make cute photos, but just that wouldn't be enough for me. So I elevate it with podcasts. Which I sometimes pause, or sometimes don't pay attention to. But sometimes, I also sit on the bench and keep listening for a while.

AR glasses is one way an outdoor fitness subscription service might look: https://ghostpacer.com I wouldn't be shocked if this is one of the things Apple is exploring.
