This gonna be a failure just like google glass
Why would I wanna wear an iWatch and carry my iPhone something doesnt add up here.

Bring on the iTV already alot of people waiting for that!

Such b.s not even funny. No imagination whatsoever not to mention no facts at all on the "failures of google glass."

ignorance is bliss. Nike FuelBand or Garmin Forerunner does not have "biosensors". You are so clueless you don't even know what 'biosensor' is. I doubt you know what 'bio' means because you wont use it in your post. That right there should me the end of my post. but I digress.

There are not many things a small device strapped to a wrist can do that a phone cannot. (Plus you listed one). A phone can do all those things you just mentioned; which is to track your distance, calculate calories burned, steps taken. All of that are software features, there is no "biosensors".

lol

You are hilarious tell me to take a step back seeing I'm a windows phone 8, android and Iphone developer and what qualifies you? oh yeah you are just a fan. lmfao.

Glass is miles ahead of any smartWatch technology or concept. If anyone can't see it, its because of their fanboism. If the shoe was switched and it was apple who came up with Glass, you won't be saying the garbage you spewing now.

so please save it.

Wow, an anti-iWatch troll... and the iWatch doesn't even exist!

Oh, and being a mobile software developer doesn't seem to give anyone any particular insight into wearable technology.

You probably shouldn't be throwing around the f-word either. You have the same characteristics of a fanboy: An unreasoned, vocal allegiance (to or against) a particular technology, company or brand. You're sure iWatch is horrible even though you don't know anything about what it might be, or even if it will exist at all. For one thing, why assume it's iWatch vs. Google Glass? Couldn't it be both? How do you even know they are competing technologies?

I'm very far from being called a fanboy. I don't even like google. But techs they put out excite me. Like the driverless car, glass, google now unification.

I have owned more apple products than Google or Android products. And that is a fact. I'm more inclined to Microsoft than I am to Google. Yet I'm not fanatical. I use logic and reason. I never said iWatch was gonna fail. I never even said anything negative about it. I said ANY. keyword ANY smartwatch has 4 obvious limitations which i listed.

This in no wise particularly victimizes the iWatch or Apple. Lastly I do see the two as competing technologies because I see it as Apple's response to wearable tech that Google has put out.

I never said it was one or the other. As you see I own more apple products than Google. Though i sold my Iphone 5 3 weeks ago.

I don't believe this rumor... does not make sense... Apple has been silent too long not to have something in the hopper and the iWatch seemed like the most likely candidate for the fall. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I recall Tim Cook saying something along the lines that they'd have new product categories to announce for next year. By the looks of it this fall what Apple will release is iOS 7/Mavericks, the iPhone 5S along with the rumored cheaper iPhone, the announced new MacPro and perhaps a new AppleTV. Updated models of the iPad, iMacs/MacBook should be expected too I think, with the back to school promo and all.

Looks Like

The ipad nano with a wristband

I stopped wearing a watch back in 1997, which also was the year I got my first cell phone. I'm not sure what would make me pick up an 'iWatch'. Especially since the first 3 versions of it will surely be stripped down of features due to money milking.

I know I won't buy it.

I still can't believe anybody is buying in to this smartwatch idea. And don't about how "nobody believed the iPhone would be a success when it first came out because it didn't have a physical keyboard" because that's something completely separate.

Smartphones are a solution in search of a problem.

Late 2014?

You mean I have to read speculative rumors about this watch for the next 18 months?

Please please let them release it earlier. If. They. Ever. Release. It. Which. They. May. Not.

wht about we don't need an iphone with a bigger screen argument for the ipad? Let's see it. If anything this will be exciting. Another potential Apple product that could wow us.

Hello, this is the Amnesia Department. You seem to have forgotten something.

Don't know what you're talking about. I will refer you to the iPad argument which kicked off in the face of ridicule. What made you pick up an ipad despite thinking it is an oversized iphone?

I don't think you can claim logic and reason when you are evaluating a product that doesn't exist. Your point that using a watch is the same movement as getting a phone our of your pocket is not correct. It certainly isn't for me, at any rate.

I do agree that a watch is a limited platform and doesn't constitute a general personal computing platform. For one thing, you have to give up using one whole hand other than to support the device. My best guess is that a UI worn on the wrist can take over all of the interactions you currently have with your phone that take just a few seconds (view a message, switch songs, see who called, etc.) With a watch, you'd be done before you could have even gotten the phone out of your pocket and unlocked. In Apple terms, that's a modest extension of their existing mobile UX. If true, it would make comparisons of Glass vs. iWatch pretty pointless since they would have such different ambitions. Of course all we can do right now is speculate. In the end, though, you'd be able to wear both so pitting them against each other feels unnatural.

Never understood why there's so much talk about this. That's an iPod nano with a wrist strap. Wow. Amazing.

Edit: Beaten to the punch. By many people. Awk.

But you CAN do a lot more with the bigger iPad screen. A LOT more. The only thing that's kept me from buying one is I already have a perfectly fine desktop and laptop AND iPod Touch and I don't know how I'd carry around something the size of an iPad.

But an iWatch? A watch is a device that tells you the time of day; it's a very simple action because a watch is a very small device. You know why those little wrist-mounted calculators never took off? Because having so much information displayed in such a tiny location is impractical.

I'd much rather Apple focus on things like battery life and performance in current devices than giving us another brand of iToys.

Financial Times reports that Apple is "aggressively" hiring new employees to help with its smart watch effort, suggesting that the company needs additional expertise to tackle the project's challenges. Sources also indicate that the "iWatch" may not appear until late next year, as has been previously rumored. The report indicates that Apple has been looking at acquiring smaller firms with expertise that would be valuable to its smart watch effort, and has also been working hard to retain key employees related to the project.

Rumors of an Apple smart watch have been circulating for some time now, with the company reportedly putting over 100 designers to work on the project. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Apple has hired Paul Deneve, formerly the CEO of fashion house Yves Saint Laurent, to work on "special projects", with speculation suggesting he may involved with the iWatch and other wearable computing projects at Apple.

Apple has been filing trademark applications on the iWatch name in a number of countries, something the company typically does relatively close to its product launches, but it appears in this case that Apple may still have significant work left to do before it can bring its smart watch to market.

My god can you read? Do you not understand that this is not what Apple is producing? No one knows. Macrumors do us all a favor, put it in big bold letters as a caption underneath the image: CONCEPT ART ACTUALLY NANO WITH WRIST-BAND NOT IWATCH

They can do both. In fact it'll kill two birds with one stone. You need good battery life for these things. But come on. No one saw a point to the iPad until they used one they all wondered why they would need a big ios device. This really is in the same type of ball park, besides we don't know what Apple will do with this.

I see no point in a iwatch when out in my travels i have an iphone and macbook close at hand. At home i will soon have an Ipad to read and watch my iTunes books and movies in bed and before bed an Imac to play games, type documents and surf the net at my leisure.

In the age of smartphones i never wear a watch and never will my wrist is too tiny, and besides how much can you do on a 1" approx screen. Frankly I simple won't use it besides for telling the time, it will just be a piece of tech i will be lagging around just to say that am I hardcore Apple Fanboy.

Also I see this like the Google Glass a growing fad to explore ideas beyond the PC market, its time Apple begins to explore and improve devices which have potential like their Apple TV, lets bring an app store and compete amongst the likes of Sony and Microsoft for living room share.

What a total waste of time. First you have to be able to use your fingers on the small screen second you need to be able to read the screen.. Apple should be putting more time in fixing their rubbish mapping service and Siri.

Did you see the point of an ipad back when it was just a concept. I bet not. Now look at it. Let's allow this technology to be released and developed, and then we can see what it can do. Same with Google Glass, I have faith in both.
