We have been covering iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 17e, and iPhone Fold details from The Information's report about future iPhone models, and next up is the iPhone Air 2.

The report says that Apple aims to make the iPhone Air 2 more attractive in two ways.

First, Apple is apparently considering adding a second rear camera to the device, which would resolve a key limitation. The current iPhone Air has a single 48-megapixel Fusion rear camera, with Telephoto-like, optical-quality 2× zoom, so the additional camera on the second-generation model would likely be an Ultra Wide lens.

Second, the report said Apple is considering lower pricing for the iPhone Air 2. In the U.S., the current iPhone Air starts at $999, despite having only a single rear camera, a single speaker, shorter battery life, and a few other minor limitations.

While it has a bold, ultra-thin design, the iPhone Air has seemingly been unpopular relative to the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models, and Apple's suppliers are reportedly significantly scaling back production of the device as a result.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027.

I'm skeptical about being able to add a 2nd camera, without some compromising on some of the physical traits.

Re: lower price

Why don't they test that, now, with iPhone Air v1 by the lowering the prices to see if it sells better?

I'd do that before investing in an updated version.

You can be sure a second camera will take the iPhone Air to a whole new level! And Apple didn't stop there. The lower price is truly a game-changer for iPhone Air, the best-in-class of thin, premium phones.

I do not get who the air is for? Is the iPhone too heavy and thick for some? It just seems ridiculous. I rather have other features. I can carry something thicker.
The mini makes sense for children. That’s it. I remember having one and hating it. It’s too small. Even the regular is too small. I wish I got the plus size.

It sounds like you're discovering "different people have different preferences".

What you want ≠ what everyone else wants.

For an iPhone “with the power of Pro inside”, we really should get a telephoto lens
On paper it may have “Pro” power, but in practice it can’t sustain it thermally, among other things.
That’s arguably its biggest issue: this device should have been marketed as an entry-level model – the way MacBook Air or iPad Air historically were at Apple – rather than pretending it’s a true “Pro” product.

Non-techy people I know who nevertheless like nice things and would presumably be the target audience for the iPhone Air have had three main nitpicks: lack of multiple cameras; diminished battery life; tinny audio.

I know Apple is hesitant to embrace silicon carbide battery tech, but the Air could be a good test case for that.
