Yesterday, I was on my notebook using wifi with no problem. Left and came back an hour later, and couldnt connect.

I unplugged the airport and restarted the computer, but that didnt do anything.
I thought perhaps the airport might be the problem, but my iphone can still connect over the same wi-fi.

So I thought maybe the problem is with my computer, but it can still connect to other wifi signals.

not sure what is the problem if it seems it is not the airport or the computer?

Does the internet service you have coming into the house have a modem, or a modem/router combination?

If so, have you tried powering it down, waiting a few moments, and then powering it back on?

Thanks for the reply.
I ended up resolving it by flushing the DNS!

-edit-

it was a temporary fix it seems.
every time i restart, same problem and I keep needing to renew my DNS settings to get it to work. why does it behave in this way? why do my other devices have no problem connecting.

Hi, check you router and put the channel to something different from 10 to 14.
Like channel 5 for instance.
That's it!
