I brought the Airport Extreme, the ISP gives 152mbps but I can only get 70-90 via wifi, why is this, and how can I improve it?

Do you use a 5 GHz network? What exact computer with what exact WiFi capabilities do you use to connect to the AEBS? And how far is the AEBS away from the computer and how many walls (thickness perhaps?) are between them?

Not enough info.

70-90mbps sounds like either dual stream 2.4ghz N or single stream 5ghz N.

What device are you speed-testing with?
Which frequency band are you connected to?

It helps sometimes, to give the 5ghz band a different name. On my 5th gen, I have Home and Home_5

Only the Macbook Pro, when connected on the 5GHz band and in the same room, will be able to hit 150mbps speediest. Have you verified it is connected in 5GHz mode?

The cable I am using to the Airport Extreme is cat5e - would that make a difference in the speed I get?

5E is rated for gigabit traffic, no.

Option Key + Click wifi icon in toolbar. You are looking to see 5GHz and Transmit Rate of near 240+.

DFS is an FCC regulated power limiting mode to avoid interference with RADAR.

1. Switch to channel 149+. Somewhere in airport app advanced wireless you can specify manual channel.
2. Make sure you are in the same room as your access point.

Thats odd. I have an older 5th gen and don't have the middle channels.
