Because you're entering into an agreement for them to sell your software. You still have the option to sell your software on your own, as companies have been doing for decades and will continue to do.

Heh, you got replies, but sadly not a single good reason, as they were all pretty awful.

If you don't want to sell in the Apple store you don't have to. No one is forcing you to at all.

It is that simple. But then again you pretty much have a problem with anything and everything Apple does.
