Apple Already Preparing Some Early iPad Mini Pre-Orders for Shipment

Mine shipped this morning via UPS (10/29). The status on Apple website is still preparing for shipment. I got the tracking number by putting my phone number and zip code in the UPS site.

On schedule for delivery on Friday 11/2 by noon. Yay!

not with the current technology. It will be must more heavy much like Ipad 4. Retina screen need more back light and bigger battery and there go the lighter and thinner argument for an Ipad mini. The next generation retina panel may do better with back light and battery. but not now.. Would anyone still like Ipad mini if it was weighted over 1lb vs about 11oz now?

Uh oh. Just realized that Fedex has my iPad Mini in Middletown, PA (per their website). Looks like Sandy will be hitting there tonight. :(

Keeping all the people in the path of this Frankenstorm in my thoughts. Seems inappropriate to hope Apple is working with the carriers to get product out of the storm path.

Don't they normally release software updates on a Wednesday or is that just something in my head?

If that is the case it will be the 31st October....Halloween gift!

There is shipping info for iPad minis on FedEx's site if you track by reference number and put in the phone number of the account that ordered the iPad. Mine is on it's way. Weird that iPads come by FedEx while the cover is coming by UPS.

My mini is being shipped through ups also. found it by reference number

Ipad Mini Tracking Info

My first post on MacRumors. Finally figured out how to find my tracking number for my Ipad Mini using the recommendations of previous bloggers even though the Apple website still shows it as "Preparing For Shipment." (track by reference using phone # & zip code) Just as I suspected; being shipped via UPS directly from the Apple assembly line in China to my front door on 02Nov. I am lucky because I reside in the "not so dangerous" path of Hurricane Sandy and the worst just barely missed me. I'm just catching a lot of rain and some strong wind gust here and there. To everyone else, be safe. Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to playing with my new toy on Friday!

Thanks ipodcolor, that's pretty cool.

Mine is still in Preparing for Shipment, yet I'm unable to find it on UPS' or FedEx' website.
