Global Citizen and the World Health Organization have teamed up to create a "One World: Together at Home" global special to support the fight against COVID-19.

The special is set to be broadcast live on Saturday, April 18 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time/8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on ABC, NBC, and CBS, plus it will be streamed by Apple, Amazon Prime Video, Alibaba, Facebook, Instagram, LiveXLive, Tencent, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, TIDAL, TuneIn, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo, and YouTube.

It's not clear how Apple will stream the event, but the company could add a special channel to the Apple TV as well as offering the live stream on its website.
The virtual broadcast will show unity among all people who are affected by COVID-19, as well as celebrating and supporting the brave frontline health care workers around the world who are doing incredible, life-saving work.
Lady Gaga, Elton John, Lizzo, John Legend, Keith Urban, and more are set to perform during the event, and there will be appearances by David Beckham, Idris Elba, and others.

So is it April 5th and I missed it like the article says, or April 18th as the graphic says?

For a global event, they should have used GMT, there are large parts of the world where 8PM Est is a silly time. 1AM UK, 2AM Paris, 4AM Egypt, 8AM Perth Aus. For example 3pm GMT = 10AM Est, 6PM Egypt, 10PM Perth Aus
Yes. Not sure my neighbours would appreciate me watching a concert in the UK that time of the morning.

I was enhthusiastic about the event and the "global" concept until I did a time coversion and found out the concert starts at 3AM in my country (Europe).

Sure you cant have it perfect for all the world as there is only one Sun but this timing is sure more convienent to America, which is fine, especially as initiative seems to come from US. Just dont call it global. Sady have to skip.

"USA is the world" as far as a good number of American's go. Everywhere else is just not that important.
That was the attitude of my neighbours when I lived in Nashua, N.H.

The worldwide national broadcast networks will likely show the "One World: Together at Home" concert during primetime locally in addition to the live broadcasts, though I would have expected the show to originate in Europe, considering that the World Health Organization is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

Where is Vimeo's Livestream? You would think that this was their bailiwick.

We can all watch it on the alternative live-streaming sites listed in the ad above, and I'm sure that Apple will feature it prominently. It's nice to see Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Lady Gaga collaborating from their homes, I'm sure, and all of the great artists involved uniting in support of the health care workers, first responders, those who continue to work to provide everything necessary for all of us, and for the victims and their families and everyone who is staying home to help defeat this virus.

I hope that they also mention "meals on wheels" and similar programs to care for the elderly and other people who are finding it difficult to feed themselves and their families during this crisis.

Yes this only really suits the America's, not very well thought out this for a Global event, perhaps the organizers just don't care, as long as it suits America that all that matters.

I figured it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Should be interesting to watch.

This generations “We are the world, we are the children, we are the ones to make a brighter day, so let’s start giving”.

the problem I have is the amounts of money being donated is genetically stated as “to fight xxx” yet not stated HOW specifically it’s going to be tallied up.

to me this is an issue cause who’s to say, like crooked/misguided poor children taking Halloween unicef donations for themselves, that these stars are not doing it themselves? I mean look how much money is thrown over th years to feed starving children in Africa (yeah the continent - you’ve seen lose late night informercials from the 80’s onward on cable TV) and yet same numbers of starvation happen.

I doubt corporations just donate millions without knowing how it’s being used, or ... do they? I feel I think I know how it’ll be spent but I’d like to really hear it from such an organization down to the $100 US dollar and where in the globe as well. I just see this more as a US monetary donation and use case yet I sincerely pray I’m very wrong on my fears and concerns.

I totally agree with you. I’m always curious as to how this large donations are allocated. Millions here and millions there. Where does it go? Can we get an update 1-5 years later?

I think transparency would be great for these kinds of things.

It's almost as if the entertainers, performers, ball players, etc realize they have no actual value in society unless they keep their "brand" going.

While folks like first responders, Nurses, Doctors, grocery store workers, bus drivers, and all the other people who get paid squat to prop up society just keep running to the danger and keep getting paid squat.

And guess what happens when it's all over? They'll keep getting paid squat. After the hospitals empty out, and the trains are running again, and there's no shortage of TP, or someone to pick up grandmom at the morgue there's space in now. They'll forget. they always do.

And GaGa will wow us with another meat dress, or something with the virus printed on it it at an awards show like any of these people are really important to the day to day functioning of society. Like they ever were.

Like anyone is crying a river over Kobe Bryant NOW. Now that 76,000 people have died world wide in 3 months.

Together at home. Yeah, real nice. Life's REALLY HARD in your multi million dollar palace.

These people don't really care. It's the same self serving tripe as always. Gotta keep the spotlight on them...

It's probably at a time convenient for the USA because most if not all of those featured are in the USA.

Where are they doing this concert? Are they all going to be at one place? Defeats the purpose of ‘social distancing’
