Anyone know why the different storage tiers have different carbon footprints?

Well, I'm assuming the onboard solid state storage takes up more room on the circuit board the larger capacity it is.

It suggests higher storage capacity uses 3D NAND with additional layers, which requires more chemical deposition and etching.
