You quoted part of the sentence. what about forks and extension cords?

"In this case we have laws about not killing people it applies generally to people themselves not cars and guns even a fork or extension cord."
The existence of a more generic law doesn't prevent nor undermine the purpose of a more specific law. In other words, it's "don't kill" but also "don't run over" and "don't shoot" (and many more)

As they say, perfect is the enemy of good. Reducing harm is good even if you can't stop it completely.

Glad to be right about something I didn't say! Thanks!
Yep. I agree. There is a class of things that can be used for good and bad. Treat them all with some due care. Glad you and I agree, not a common thing.👍

most jurisdictions do control knives and rat poison to various degrees. You can’t just carry a giant knife on to a plane or in to a large sporting event say. Depending on where you are there a various rules about who can buy rat poison and where and how you can apply it

But that’s neither here nor there…

You are continuing to ignore the point.

Are you afraid to answer the question:
what legitimate use do these apps have?

Nor a big bottle of water. Planes are a notoriously bad example.

But people can run over people with cars. It’s happened recently. People are stabbed in the street unfortunately.

Fun.

Huh?

In order to make a case here you’d have to explain what legitimate use these apps have

Anyways I’m going to the beach. I’m sure y’all will still be blah blah blah if later
No, all that needs to be said is these apps have a legitimate use. Because you want the uses enumerated doesn’t mean a poster has to do it.

These apps go with the theme good tech can be used for bad purposes.

So your fine with someone that has you family photos having some “fun” with these apps at you and your families expense?

That’s a good legitimate use for you?
Strawman. You’re fine with someone with a big suv running over your family because it’s “fun” for them. Let’s have some “fun” with my car and run over people.

Except these apps have no legitimate use

The only use of these apps is making pornography without the subjects consent.

They have no other use

That’s the entire point

I’m off to the beach. I’m sure we’ll chat later 😉

Good point actually Thanks. Yes notice they did not ban rat poison they outlined how it can be used for safety, Giant knives aren't banned but again there are laws outlining un-acceptable uses.

My point exactly. These apps have use cases that don't harm other individuals, even if its not a thing your into its still a thing. So perhaps the laws about deformation etc. already apply.

Except these apps have no legitimate use
Because you can’t envision it doesn’t mean they don’t.

Yes, that’s a bad use. The ban on civilians having assault weapons in NJ was overturned. The only use for a civilian having an assault weapon is killing people.
They have no other use

That’s the entire point

Yep, I’m sure.

Kinky couple A:wants to put a gorilla head one one person and a cow head on another person, or swap each others bodies.

That's one

That’s not what these apps do. They take images of clothed people and “unclothe” them.

I’m not sure if you are just being disingenuous or actually don’t understand

Doesn’t matter my opinionof what’s useful because you can’t see it doesn’t mean there isn’t. You could reject the premise and then we have two people who have differing opinions on the internet. Horses for courses.

It matters because your entire argument rests on the idea that these apps have some legitimate use

If you cannot come up with a single legitimate use then you have no argument

If you actually can come up with a legitimate use, then you surely are confident enough in it’s legitimacy that you can defend it

I might disagree, but I would have to concede that you have a valid argument and I merely disagree with a premise

As it stands now you simply have no argument at all

Also, you keep using “horses for courses wrong”

Give the actual list of apps was not released

And why do you suppose that is?

The entire point is that the only purpose of these apps is to create non consensual nude images of people

All of the reporting explains that

That’s the entire point of the story, the request that they be taken down, and this discussion

If you want to argue that they have legitimate uses, your only move is to come up with a legitimate use of making non consentual nude images of another person
