If you did not know this already, it seems that apple's website links to Google Maps when looking for directions to resale store. It makes me wonder why google lets apple link to their sites and apple is very strict with google. (That google page with the mac toolbar that got taken down in a day)

Interesting. But they're not particularly comparable cases. When Apple provides a click-through to Google Maps, Google gets ad revenue. When Google borrows the dock look for its search page, it doesn't provide a tangible benefit to Apple. Providing those map services is a market -- I don't know who pays whom or how much, but beyond money, it's a market for mindshare, in which Google, Yahoo, Mapquest, and the others would want as many people to link through to their service as possible.

But I also don't think there was ever really proof that Apple pressured Google to take it down, was there? May it not have been done pre-emptively at the behest of Google's own proconsul?
