Apple and Porting Numbers??

I searched the forums and I didn't see a definitive answer so bear with me please.

I have T-mobile right now, and was wondering if the Apple store has the capability to port numbers. And if they don't can I just get a new number at Apple and then go to an AT&T store later and port it over right?
