Apple and MLB today released the September schedule for Apple TV's weekly Friday Night Baseball doubleheader. The games are included with an Apple TV subscription at no additional cost, and there is a new perk for Vision Pro users.

For the first time, Friday Night Baseball will be streamed live in the Apple Immersive format, allowing Vision Pro users to watch a 3D video feed recorded in 8K with a 180º field of view. The first game streamed in Apple Immersive will see the Boston Red Sox face the New York Yankees on Friday, August 28 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.

Vision Pro users with an Apple TV subscription in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the U.K., and the U.S. can stream the games live in Apple Immersive directly through the Apple TV app. Full game replays and highlights will be available on demand in the Apple TV app for the Vision Pro.

"On August 28, viewers with Vision Pro will experience the iconic Red Sox vs. Yankees rivalry from unique camera angles that place viewers right in the game, immersed in the drama of each at-bat, the celebrations in the dugout after a big hit, close plays at the outfield wall, and more," said Apple, in a press release.

Apple said team lineups and stats will float on screen, and there will be a stadium view with Spatial Audio during breaks in the action.

Four out of seven of the Friday Night Baseball games in September will be streamed in Apple Immersive, with a full schedule provided in Apple's announcement.

Lost opportunity for them to not have implemented this during the World Cup - but guess they would have needed the broadcast rights first!

Why? Why would I want to have my literal face strapped into something, especially for something like this. Is, 'Why?', even a question anymore in modern Silicon Valley? 'Because we can.', is not a sufficient answer.

If you can’t see the “why,” then that’s a YOU problem. This is like being at the game in person, without dealing with the crowds, traffic and all the other nonsense you have to deal with when attending a game in person.

Superbowl tickets last year, the range was between 5,000 to 30,000 dollars. Even if the NFL/Apple treated that game like a pay-per-view on a Vision Pro and charged 150 dollars to watch the game via Vision Pro, and you had a 50-yard line sideline view, I think people would definitely pay it. If they release a less expensive Vision Pro, I think that it would definitely drive sales.

We're talking about sporting events, and concerts people can't be at, artists can host privately scheduled concerts. Could you imagine the Rolling Stones releasing a new secret album and charging for a listening session for a select group of fans? Things like that is something that Pandora tried a few years ago with the special listening sessions, but I think if you do the same thing on a Vision Pro, like you see on the Apple demo with the Alicia Keys listening session, and you charge a small fee, or the artist gets to charge a fee, it'll drive sales. Private concerts, it'll drive sales. We haven’t even gotten in gaming for real yet

Yes! Concerts are another BIG opportunity for the AVP. When I demoed the Metallica concert to my family and friends, they were absolutely amazed, and their only comment was, are there more of these?!

Serious question, can the Vision Pro battery last thru a 9 inning game?
Yes, turn on low battery mode, turn screen brightness down, use that ice pack in your freezer from your last root canal and strap that to the battery pack…AND plug the AVP in.

So, yes. Absolutely.

This is absolutely amazing. This has been on my wishlist since the release of the AVP. Awesome that it is becoming a reality. The NFL will be next.
Hopefully, and other sports as well, plus concerts and other live events. You're not alone in wanting more content, in real time or pre-recorded.
