Love how many people are complaining about the lack of ram. It’s an iPhone chip.

Also, this is designed to compete with Chrome books or cheap Window laptops for your granny’s and young children in school. Not for people who actually wanna do something besides check their mail.

Heck, I would say for what I do on my laptop (M1 13” MBP), Discord, web searches, this is a perfect price. I have an older iPad Air and I hardly use the thing because I find touch screens annoying.

Sounds like I need to make a road trip in a few weeks, do some trade ins and come home with a new lappy

So close to be a perfect budget Mac, but without a backlit keyboard and 16GB RAM option is a miss.

PS, hopefully next year's version will address these things.

This is obviously another education play by Apple. This isn’t meant for you and me, but for kids who do everything online. It’s essentially Apple’s Chromebook.

This is not for adults. This is for kids and teens. People hating on it because of certain specs don’t get it. This will be a huge seller for kids and teenagers who hate cheap junk Chromebooks. Would not be surprised if it outsells Chromebooks this year.

All of yall complaining realize you are not the target audience here right?

This is literally designed to compete with the edu chromebook market. And if successful apple will make a boat load of $$$ the market for chromebooks is huge

I am shocked more folks are not talking about the real intention behind this device... it's competing with Chromebooks which we use a ton of in the school system. This is a HUGE win for education. We use Chromebooks or Dells with maybe 4gb of ram and 64gb of memory at the same price as the NEO. I think NEO is here for education. It's going to be a great disruptor that we need in our system. I'd love to go back to Macs in our schools!

Question: If the iPad Air is so powerful and good, doesn't it make sense that the Macbook Neo is worse than it at the same price? Screen, chipset, RAM... Is a keyboard that expensive, or is adding software that difficult?

Did someone watch the promo video? It has to be the most elaborate, complex and overengineered way to say : "This is a normal laptop, nothing fancy"

Also, Macbook "Neo" ?
Anyone remembers the "New" iPad AKA iPad 3

I don't usually make post like this, but oh boy, was this disappointing.

Yeah, it’s a really wildly over the top and overproduced way to say: it is a laptop. It has a screen. It has a keyboard. It is made of aluminium.

The way they dress that up is incredible. They are masters of hyping up the utterly mundane.

Are we sure a kid would want this over an iPad with a keyboard attachment?

With iPads, they can do much more gaming, and the young generation is fully acclimated to touch first interface and prefers it from my experience.

Get used to 8Gb. They wanted to make this thing inexpensive and RAM prices are only getting worse.
If this sells well enough and I am guessing it will, maybe we will see a 12gb model in a year or two but at the price its being sold at I don't think we will see it go up in RAM very fast or often.

If schools run on Chromebooks, can kids still use a MacBook?
