Finally! I'm still on the gen 1. Great headphones but sick of Lightning. The USB-C update wasn't enough to justify an upgrade.
Too bad that they didn't take the chance to make them lighter. That's my only complaint. I would prefer a plastic version.
Anyway, they are fantastic otherwise.

Did Apple not focus group the last generation?
This is the most frustrating "upgrade" ever. I can't see any reason to buy these.
Think I'll stick with my Focal Bathys MGs, which sound 10x better, have longer battery life, a proper case etc.

A not a single rumor about this. Amazing.
Reminds me of the first AirPods Pro announcement.
It was first day (well, a day before my first official day) at Apple. I had to go to the store to fill out some paperwork. There had been rumors about AirPod Pros (1st Gen) that were to be released probably around March 2020. But here it was October 30, 2019.. and I'm in the store's management office doing what I needed to do and one of the Senior Managers says, "Oh..wow...AirPod Pros!." Everyone turned and was like, "What?" Right there on the Apple website was the new product...five months earlier than all the rumors...and no one pretty much no one outside of Cupertino had a clue.

I can but will not not pay € 579 for a set of headphones that is probably dead or useless in less than 10 years.
The only reason to upgrade to these will be entirely down to sound quality. If they're a considerable step up (as in, rivalling the Focal Bathys MG or Dali IO-12s) then maybe.
Because there's no other reason to upgrade, same damn colors, same damn Smart Case, crappy battery life.
We all know Apple have gone downhill, but this is the biggest sign yet along with the MacBook "Neo".

So you have to wonder what are they goi g to announce at their events later in the year? I'm thinking MacBook Ultra, this new smart hub thing and camera, plus iPhones and iPhone Fold, and maybe iPad Mini with OLED?

This is giving me renewed hope for a new Apple TV announcement this month!!
So I haven tied out the Focal Bathys MGs and they sound great but it’s 1500.00 and what I did not like is it’s difficult to replace the battery if it dies.
