They note that reliability above 62 degrees latitude is not gauranteed, so it may not be useful in northern sweden anyway.
They need to put some satellites in circum-polar orbits so they can cover the whole planet. ;)

They spelt Australia wrong. C'mon Apple! ;-)

Split the difference?

But seriously Tim Cook, Australia is one place where the satellite service will be a huge winner. With a population of about the same as Southern California, 26M, covering a land mass of about 90% of continental USA you would reckon every man and his (her) dog will want an iPhone.

If you have ever travelled over the hill from Sydney (east cost) and you really will know what I mean. You could plot a route to the west coast, over 4,000 kms away, and no see another person if you did not want to.

So get on with it fella and launch down under as soon as possible!

On top of that we’re populated like a donut with 80%+ of people located in the Capitol Cities of the Coast which means lots of places in the middle to get lost and never be seen again. Every year a dozen or so people just disappear i the interior and are never seen again, or worse found dead after getting lost.

I realise I’m asking a lot as in the Appleverse anything south of Key West does not exist, but spare a thought for us old Aussies with all that unpopulated space full of deadly critters and give us an emergency satellite! 😳

While this is great - most ppl are still on older devices and not everyone can afford to switch over to newer models at a drop of a hat. Hoping more devices are included in the fold with satellite feature with upcoming phones like SE especially.

The problem may not be all on Apple. They have to coordinate with EMS systems at all levels from the government on down. But you make a damn good case for Aussies to get coverage.

Ho .... you need satellite calling in Luxembourg because .... you may be out of cellular coverage 🤣🤣 .. .did anybody at Apple HQ ever been to Luxembourg ??
