I'm sorry but at $599 that isn't acceptable, period. And not standardising on a key feature such as the dynamic island limits buy in from developers which impacts all users.

60hz screen, thicker bezels and the missing camera should be enough to differentiate this from the $200 more iPhone 17.
I get your point, but at the same time parts bin phone gonna parts bin. Apple wants the front of this phone to look different than the other three models when set out on a table at the Apple Store for the upsell. We started deploying these in my firm for employees last year and I can tell you the purchasing department doesn’t give a damn about the Dynamic Island. However, it really loves an iPhone starting price $200 lower than the base model when buying in bulk.

While not nearly as good a value proposition as the base 17, a FAR better value proposition than the 16e it replaces…

Well done, Apple.👏🏼

This is a major disappointment

This was supposed to be the year Apple standardised on the dynamic island yet it's still the notch, and 60hz of course.

We should have basically a repackaged iPhone 15 but instead it's still using the display of the iPhone 14.

Not good enough.

What the front of this phone should look like:

Honestly I don’t really care for the Dynamic Island, I actually find live activities quite annoying with the way they hide the status bar icons so the 17e not having it is actually a plus in my book

I would probably get a 15 over 17e. If forced.

The ”dynamic island” brings no value at all. Now you can essentially choose between the e version or $200 more for 120hz that you wont notice, and a slightly better camera. A camera you wont notice the difference with either. Oh and a useless ultrawide.
Good choices.
not noticing 120hz over 60hz is pure cope, i'd get the rest but $200 less for something completely outdated is pure apple fanboyism

They all having usb 2 from 2000 is what is unacceptable. That’s including the mid-tier phones. Even their high-end phones have ancient usb tech. That’s Apple.

Just go with an iPhone 15. It even gives better bezels (not by much).

Why are you complaining? You were’nt going to buy to begin with.

Complaining about USB 2.0 is baffling to me
No one is buying this (or the regular 17) and transferring data over a cable
USB throughput only really matters for the 17 Pro where external storage is useful for video work

I am if you got a windows set up. Why not just upgrade instead of being decades behind?

Of course I would prefer 120hz over 60hz, since I’ve been told its better. But I wouldnt want to pay for it. I recently switched from 60hz to 144hz on my external monitor. I can’t tell the difference.

Seems pretty nice, but $599 / £599 is still not what I'd consider cheap
Well, it’s $500 less than the Pro. That makes you realize how much you pay for.. what, exactly? Not performance. Pretty much not for battery life. Not connectivity. I guess its for those cameras.

either you're bluffing or blind, that is impossible lmao
I really cant tell. Maybe you could enlighten me: do you often read content whilst scrolling fast? Do you often watch content filmed in above 60 fps?

Oh so that’s a no on both of them? Then tell me again, what is 120hz so good for? Gaming? I don’t do that, I’m not 15 anymore.

Alright thats an outright lie, I do play BG3 on my MBA occasionally but I don’t play on the phone.
