I can't wait for it either. The fact that the menu has a sub menu right away is more organized given all the new options.

The only thing I am not happy about is that there are no HD purchases and the fact that rentals purchased on the apple tv cannot sync back with any other device. I think that is just stupid.

I'll tell ya, just looking through the movie titles and seeing that some are only rentable, some you can only buy...some you can do both....its confusing.

What I would have liked. A rent and then an option to buy. I have a pretty good suspicion that the movies you can rent and buy....you won't get any savings. I expect that will change once they get some volume and complaints.

For HD, I think they made that :apple:TV only to help push people to buy the darn thing. Also, how large is the HD file? The thing has got to be huge. And with the DSL connection that only gets 100kbps I don't think I'll be waiting the two days it will take to download.

5G Video iPods Locked Out From Renting Is Outrageous

There is an online petition circulating to ask Apple to rectify this issue with a firmware update for older models at: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/ipodrent/petition.html. There's a lot of people pissed about this -- pass it on.

If technological barriers and (speculative) DRM issues are truly not impediments to older video iPods utilizing the iTunes movie rental service - and, indeed, inspection of the purchased and rental videos show that files & codecs are exactly the same -- then Apple has no reason to exclude their millions of current customers for using the service as it was intended.

5th Generation iPod & Movies Rentals on iTunes

Syncing a rental movie from iTune only work with the iPhone, the iPod Classic, the iPod Touch and the iPod Nano with video. There's been no firmware update released for the 5th Generation iPod to accommodate Movie Rentals. All video-capable Ipods should be equal.

Many Like Me are Complaining.... I Have two 5th Generation iPod and NOW WHAT????

The specs on the rentals are not the same. They are anamorphic encodes at higher bit rates than the regular files. The 5th Generation iPod probably could not play them.

Extending the 24 Hour Limit

As a matter of fact ...It didn't even trigger the deletion when the movie ended. I clicked on the black video window after it stopped and it started playing again! Not sure if that's something they will change in the future ..but as long as you don't hit the stop/pause button or close the movie window it will remain viewable.

i love the idea of rentals. however, i do not like the 24 hour limit. and i hate the fact that i can only rent certain movies. spiderman 3 is a rentable movie that i want to BUY! its not apples fault, its those stupid ass companies that think they know everything. i garuntee you that if every studio sold and rented their movies on itunes, people would be flocking to purchase them! hopefully this rental service will take off and the movie studios will make their titles purchaseable.

So MacWorld did a nice article on the 24 hour time limit. Basically if you don't choose delete you can finish the movie. What's more, this isn't a loop hole, it is a design choice by Apple.

Will APPLE BE OPEN TO ALL TYPES OF FILMS

I'm sure somebody has already asked this but I was wondering whether or not Apple is going to only rent major releases or indie releases as well. I also wanted to know if they are going to try and censor films. For example: If I was going see HATCHET I would want to see the unrated version because it has more gore and is a better film. Also last years most underrated movie HE WAS A QUIET MAN was so under the radar will Apple have it. That movie has Christian Slater and William H. Macy, but what about smaller indie flicks. The ones who have people you've never heard of.
